Door Hinge Striker Pin Install???
Hi guys!
Well i've been looking in at that door problem. I know for the spring its best to get the Gm spring tool, but what i'm looking for is how to installl the new Striker pin. The pin that holds down the little swiveling arm where the spring goes into. I found the original pins from an oddball dealer. But they told me that the original gm punch, does not exist anymore.
I know some people must have done this install before but i cant find info on the pin itself.
Thx guys

I think I know what CarnageGTA is talking about it. #40 in the illustration? It's called a roller in the parts and illustration catalog. That's the part of my door that's messed up also. The roller is is angled and it creaks a lot when it opens and closes.

Ok guys
Mine is # 46 on the illustration. Its a pin that holds down the spring retaining arm in the mid section of the door.
the spring is right there, the swiveling arm is connected to the door throught that pin that is the pivot point for the assembly.
On my passenger side its still holding, the bottom of this pin has been "punched" with at the factory, the bottom is split in four, witch makes it hold down the arm witch retaines the spring on the door hinge.

OK! You will need to grind off the punched (swaged) end of the pivot pin to remove it. Then install the new pivot pin, and have the punched (swaged) end MIG welded in place. It really is that easy.
