Yes i'm serious. When I replaced mine I thought I was gonna have to pull the column apart. So I went to the junk yard to get a new lever. I figured I'd try to pull the lever out and see what happens ( on the junked car ) it pulled right out. I did the same thing on my car.

I'll post some pics in a little while.

Yep, the arm just pulls right out. However, the cruise sig cable goes down the column, and is a severe PITA if you just yank the old one out and try to put a new one in. Instead, drop the driver's hush panel, the cruise cable is a single back cable that has a 4 pin plug on it, tape (well) a string or wire or something to it, and fish it back up as usual. Now, with the new one, tape the plug end to the wire that is in the column now, and pull it back through the column. Now you are all set, and the wire is in the column! It's easier than it sounds if you do it this way, otherwise you will have to take the column apart to fish the wire back through it. Let me know if you need some more help!

Thanks Erik, guys! Today i worked on the engine bay and started ripping apart the interior. I got the new guage cluster together, mounted the shift lite, and also the dual pod! It's coming together pretty nicely. Tommorrow i'll tackle the cruise control lever. Thanks, i'll let you know how it turns out. later

Uhh. Make sure that the wipers are OFF when you pull the lever out.. It had been raining before I decided to change mine, so the wiper switch was in the on position.. I pulled on the lever and it came out allright, but it broke the wiper switch. I then found out the wiper switch must be one of the most expensive parts in the interior!! New one from the dealer was $125.. everywhere else I tried either couldnt get it or were closer to $200.
