Rear Bumper/impact Absober

I HAVE A 1991 FIREBIRD WITH THE SO CALLED GROUND EFFECTS
A.K.A. SHOWBOAT MATERIALS THAT I WILL SOON BE REMOVING BUT MY MAIN CONCERN IS THE REAR BUMPER IT SELF,THAT I WILL
REMOVE TO SWAP OUT TO AN 1982 STYLE REAR BUMPER
DO I NEED TO CHANGE THE IMPACT ABSORBER AS WELL OR JUST CHANGE THE COVERS ?????????????? IT IS BAFFLING ME TO DEATH I'VE TRIED TO FIND AN ANSWER BUT NO ONES SEEMS TO
KNOW ? VERY CONFUSED!
