the motor mounts werent to bad, thank *** i have a 9 yr old brother thou, i kept dropping the nuts down the bottomless pit of the crossmember, so i had him come over and reach his hand in there and get them, funny thing was, he was playing in mud and asked me if it was ok if his hands were muddy, meanwhile my hands and the crossmember were covered in oil.
Do you have to change the front springs? if i dont it will just ride low in the front right, or will the suspension be ****ed up.....

I'm not gonna knock on sport compact performance. My 2.3ltr SVO will walk my 5.0ltr RS by over a second in the 1/4. Over and Over and Over. And both cars have over 100k miles. The SVO was also 1/2 the price of the RS. You can make anything fast if you know how (giving credit to ford engineers on the 2.3T setup).

well i got the v6 mounts out eazy, and ill get the v8 ones ez im sure also because ill just use my 9 yr old bros lil hands to fit in there and hold the wrench in place.
but the problem is... finding v8 mounts, i heard that i can use the engine side mounts from the v6, but the actual mounts that bolt on the crossmember... i cant find them anywhare, any ideas?

dude....i used standard 84 camaro z28(305) mounts...they bolted right in(the v8 mount holes should be in the x member along with the v6 ones...if i remember right its two sets of 3 holes...
i went to the yard and took the motor half of the mounts form a junk 305 laying on the ground that was getting ready to head to scrapheaven....i might have a few extra laying around, ill have to look...
yeah if your aiming for way cheaper insurance then a v8 swap is the way to go....you have to watch out what motor block you use...on mine i used a 74' ish 350,and the starter holes werent right for the (96 tooth?? i forget) flywheel ..there are a krapload of posts on the prob and how to fix it....i posted alot search my posts if you can....make sure your starter lines up with your flywheel before you put your motor in...if it only will line up with one bolt, i can walk you through on how to mark, drill, and tap the extra bolt hole you will need...i think any 350/305 77ish - on has all 3 or at least the correct two starter boltholes in there so they work on just about anything...
if you need more help post a new topic and tell me,or just email me and ill help you through it from what i can remember lol later!

They got those motors right straight from the factory...they respond VERY well to mods! The best thing is, a lot of them have blocks that were cast in Brazil, which usually is enough to make the car "legal" for the import drags!

hmmm...i think just about any small block chevy v-8 67-86(metal motor side) mount should work..i think thier all the same...the metal over rubber part that bolts on the frame...you can buy em new anywhere for about $15-45 each(depending of course on what quality you want...want em cheap?go to bonezone) i bought half decent set of anchor brand mounts for 305 camaro from my dads work (hes the head manager at a auto parts warehouse...man i love it ) for like $20 a piece....the yards have the metal part that bolts onto the block, theyre just too lazy to go take em off for $10 lol
ill have to swing by the parents house (still have all my parts over there lol)and see if i have a extra set i can sell ya real cheap.

All i can say is this:
My friend's little brother is into rice (96 accord, 5 spd, 4 cyl, cold air, header). He kept braggin he's killed most of the rice in town, and goes on to say he can easily beat me. I left it alone , I don't like picking on the handicapped. He kept on and kept on, until his g/f came over and he continued. So now i couldn't resist.
poor bastard never had a chance.

i dont think i should have trouble w/ the guages, when i bought the car it had a spedo and the gas guage was whare the tach should be, along w/ some idiot lights, and since im putting at least 3K$ under the hood i didnt want the car to tell me when im already ****ed, so i bought a 115mph guage cluster w/ gauges n a tach to play w/ untill i get auto meter ****.... the tach is a v8 one im assuming cuz when i atteched it and revved the v6 it was way off.... so my only problems will be rewiring everything under the hood.....

I duno about that straight 6 comment.... my 89 cherokee has a 4.0L 6... and i take out 6cyl 3rd gens all the time :P.. but it thou... cars not fast... maybe thats why im building a 400hp+ roller cam sbc for my camaro :P

yeah ...but would you rather be driving a cast iron straight 6 jeep or a nice camaro with a hella small block under the hood?...which one of the two would you consider a possible "hotrod" ...... this is my whole thing..i cant stand it when some dumb guy gets a accord wagon, puts a g-efx kit,18"rims,and cuts the muffler off it, then paints the dash 1,000 different colors, adds type-r stuff all over from bonezone...then argues that he has a real "hotrod"lol...
unless im mistaken even the first real hotrods of the 40's-50-'s had v-8's....not a freggin rice eating 1,000 miles per gallon 4 cylinder. At least your 2 cylinder up from civics and neons with your jeep plus when the head gaskets blow or rear mail seals pop out,yo ucan just push them out of your way...lol
now a v-8 swap into any foreign/domestic little car gets a thumbs up.... put a chrome tip on your foriegn or domestic 4 cylinder pos and you dont have a hotrod dammit lol
(p.s. leave the v-6 emblems on the car....the stupid ricers will never know what hit em man i loooove sleepers they make me alot or money around here lol)

just had to say my car is pushing 141,000 miles with the stock bottem end, transmission, rear and everything else you can think of. Starts up everytime I want it to. No leaking oil either. Gotta love the TPI 350! LOW maintenance
#73
yeah thats what i was saying....that kid was all saying that foreign motors last longer...ahh obiously he doesent work at a place that services/sells all late model cars foriegn and domestic... i have a 350 2 bolt laying around from a 77 caprice...it has OVER 300,000 miles and has never been touched other than having a timing chain put in at 200k.... it still starts up and runs great, however it does need valve seals lol the 350 tranny from the car also still works great!!! the drivetrain literally outlasted the car....it was falling apart, but still ran/drive great!
One of my co-workers has a 89 chevy 15004x4 pickup...it has 334k miles, the tbi 350 just finally got re-built last year just because it was tired(nothing broke)..and the tranny held up untill 2 weeks ago when he tried hauling a big trailer (cuz his big ford race car puller truck blew all to hell with 100k miles) and all the trans needed was new friction+steel plates and seals.
my best friend had a 78 cutlass with a 305 with 200 tranny that ran for 200k with out doing anything becides changing the oil...
chevy v-8's rule

" lol ....ive seen chevy small blocks run 300k+ and still run good and not leak oil....try that with a neon!!!!!!
Mikeage2 said that neons have multiple problems with windows, headgaskets and everything else: not if you take care of it. I got 127,000 (ya right dude i bet youve put on at least 3 egr valves and 2 head gaskets.....i cant wail till your cam seal or rear mail seal walks out of its place and makes one hell of a oily mess) You must be wearing a wife beater at the moment to be commenting like that. For those wondering the turbocars from chrysler were chrysler designed and built motors at the Trenton Engine plant in MI, alot had garret turbos some had mitsu turbos. The 2.5 is mainly a stroked 2.2. the mitsu motors were the carbed 2.6's (junk!).
For the guy who said 4 cyl = ***** , someone mentioned a minivan that could hand most on this site their asses, well heres a link to that van and the dudes faster cars, including a 10 sec 2.2 powered Plymouth Reliant (who here would want to line up against that at the strip?) .
Click on his rides on the left side of the site to read about his mopar screamers.. Tell me if you see rice on that site.

LOL whatever dude... id rather be driving my v-8 cars anyday instead of a turbo horizon(wow) or caravan thatll scatter the trans, axle, or pop a head gasket every 3 months.. however, they were made from factory to have a little performance,so its not a real *****....same with the twin turbo 6000gt's(at least it has a v6)...dont like them personally but they were made to go fast,so ok whatever not a *****
i do have some respect (little lol) for the american 4 bangerfartcanners.....which came factory with the turbos....... a 12 second car can be anything.........which is going to pull more runs before it blows up ? the overrevving 4 banger fart can with quad turbos(lol) and a 200 shot of n2o or the v8 made to haull a$$ ?
I HATE ASIAN GAY ImPORT FARTCANGAYHOMO cars. I just de-riced a 01 daewoo lanos at work today...after taking off the gay graphics, fart can megaphone muffler, k+n air fiter, fake carbon fiber dash inlay,non-working street glow neons, neon shifter ****,and a few dozen type-r items among other things....now we will be able to sell the p.o.s. as the car it was made to be...i cheap economy car nothing more...not fast, not performance, and most definately not a "hotrod"It was made to be a econo car,not a freggin' race car or "hot rod"
now if i saw a honda civic with a v-8 in it....id love it...real motor(v8)=dependable=real power= possible real hot rod(even though it still has that symbol problem on the hood)...
Drive whatever you want....i choose real ,reliable, v-8 power eat steak not rice!

Damn dude! What did you expect me (us) to do? It's thirdgen.org(ahh like supposed to be for camaro and firebird related only) not angrybumblebee-4lesscylinders-type-r.honda-fakecarbonfiber.org....
Dude starts out posting pics of a honda ***** and a neon comeon!
Drink a beer and mellow out man. Its going to be o.k. lol I'm pretty sure the majority(well at least half) of thirdgen fans are my around my age (20's) with some other folks like the few i know here that are 60+ and still loving thirdgens...we dont want to see this ***** 4 banger stuff!!! Ask us our opinion and your going to get it. If the truth hurts then something is wrong. Its well known by now that I hate rice and just about anything else with a 4 cylinder motor(even non-rice american 4banger stuff). If a dude wants to talk about his bad honda civic on a site thats supposed to be about real american cars that came (for the most part) with v-6's and v-8's, you are going to get my(and our) $.02.
dude wants to put a thirdgen drivetrain into a yugo..kool more power to him.Ill help him wire it up!! v-8 = onyl real way to have a "hotrod". If some dude puts a cold air kit and a fake carbon fiber dash on his daily driver 50mpg honda and I(we) dont want to hear about it here at least on THIRDGEN.ORG . relax man!!!! take some anti-flash meds or something

Oh, i forgot to add the ssei boneville and gtp to my list of non-rice cars...now those are cars that were made to fly pretty decent right out of the box,but still retain the daily driver type of deal..Same goes for the supras,etc...made by the factory to go half fast,so as long as all the 20' wings and typr r gets left at autozone then definately= not rice
again a honda civic or neon with fregging g-effex and a 12"megaphone exhaust tip and green neon lights)= straight rice(wow fast and the furious is the best movie ever..lol kids forget the two baddest cars in that movie...69 charger and the sweet red chevelle ss at the very very end.(attn all ***** shoppers:dont forget your type-r floormats and seat covers from autozone kids!)
I drove a 80's shelby we had out back at work today just to see what all this hype is about 10 second 2.5's (one of those blue and silver ones with that turbo 4 banger everybody is raving about)....and again,i wasnt imressed...it did run damn good for a 4banger..it wa smade that way,so ok no rice here either ( i retract my previous 4cyl=rice statement).but id still rather be driving a real car(ahh something v-8 or at least v-6 equipped please). Thats the nice thing about working on everything at a car lot for five years...get to drive anything you want just go grab keys out of the box, some dealer plates and go! its miller time... later!

Well interesting concept of *****
So you said is the same the one who mods his car to look like its faster (actually making it slower with more weight and drag) than one that actually improves its aceleration, drag, top speed and/or handling because both began with the same car.
Its the same a car that began with 700kg of weight and 100hp and end with 800kg and 105hp that one that end with 650kg and 190hp???
Who the hell toll you that only V8 deserves the hot rod name?
a 4400lbs car with a v8 making 300hp is a lame car, much more than a 2000lbs car with a l4 with 160hp.
And if someone began with a slow car and make it faster than a stock "fast" car, that make one a "*****"?

unless im mistaken even the first "hotrods" from the 40's had v-8's your grand prix gtp v-6 isnt one lol. its a nice daily driver that runs damn good, but still aint no hot rod. when i think of a hot rod,i see a nice custom car, nice stance with big drive(REAR!)tires, nice suspension and a nice v-8(or bigger lol) drivetrain. The t-bucket at work with 409 and a chopped 9" rear end, faaat rear mickey tompson tires= REAL hotrod.
dudes neon with a g-effx kit and 2.0 liter 4-CYLINDER= definately not. I see a big difference lol. If you guys want to love your ****-a-roni and other 4 banger cars go for it...im sticking with my real v-8 cars.

So your concept is....
I just did not wanted to follow this thing on this thread so mikeage2 there is one called like this subject outside.
Good luck to you the one that started this thread with an image of an imported car dash, and your search to make it unique, and beautifull to your taste. Thats all that matters and thats all that should matter to you.
So what you really whant of this civic look is the red needle that match the color of the red zone of your gauges?
Why just don you measure your needles and search on a wacked car similar ones and just put the red needles in your car?
Acording to the arrangement of the civic instruments I would consider having the tach in the center instead of the speed/odometer but that is just me.
Good luck to you the one that started this thread with an image of an imported car dash, and your search to make it unique, and beautifull to your taste. Thats all that matters and thats all that should matter to you.

LOL...THE LAST (UNCLE BENS ****) CIVIC I WORKED ON LAST WEEK AT WORK HAD THE COOLANT TEMP NEEDLE BROKEN OFF(APPARENTLY THEY ARENT SUPPOSED TO PULL OFF) BECAUSE THE GUY THAT OWNED IT TRIED PUTTING IN ONE OF THOSE FAKE CARBON FIBER+WHITE FACE GAUGE INLAY,AND THE NEEDLE BROKE OFF WHILE HE WAS PULLING ON IT,SO BE CAREFUL...I THINK THE FACE HAS SLITS ON IT,SO IT CAN SLIDE UNDER WITHOUT REMOVING THE NEEDLES...SO I WOULDNT TRY TAKING THEM OFF,............JUST FIGURE THE PAINT YOU WANT TO USE AND MASK OFF BEHIND AND AROUND THE NEEDLES VERY WELL,OR DO WHAT I WOULD DO AND JUST LEAVE IT ALONE....

Anthony, I'm not sure about the camaro ones...On my 84 Z h.o. the mph needle fell off when i was doing over 85 once(it had the dual m.p.h. needle dash)...all i did was stick it back on.It stayed on there after that. I've never tried "ricing" out my dash, so im not sure if the others pull off or not...id just leave em alone..I have de-r/i/c/e/d/ many a dash and interior or hondas and so on,and i knew those needles wouldn't pull off without breaking most/all of the time.
b.t.w. what do you have left from your iroc that just got wrapped around a pole? exhaust?headliner?rims?stereo?
(sorry dude that sux ive lost 2 of my thirdgens from accidents that werent even my fault...It's like they're cursed of something.)

First off this is a 3rd gen f-body site and I dont know why we are talking about **** rockets. Anyway I just wanted to mention that I have never lost to a **** rocket!!!!!!!! Yes you can make any car fast but if you have the money why waste it on a 4 banger. Hondas or what ever they are were not made to race. They were made to be fuel efficient cars for people who could not afford a real car. Here is a pic of my car which has smoked numerous **** rockets.

Geezus, somebody posts a pic of a Honda dashboard asking to do something similar, and it turns into a 2-month long flame fest. Would have it been OK if he posted a pic of a Caprice dashboard? It's a "3rd gen board," so even that shouldn't be allowed, right?
I'll say it once and I'll say it again ... the narrow-minded people who bad-mouth imports are no different than the narrow-minded riceboys who bad-mouth domestics. They're all the same breed. "I don't like dumbestics -- they are gas guzzlers and handle like ****!" is the same as "Imports aren't meant to go fast -- they are just made to go to the grocery store on pennies of gas a day."
Oh this Civic wasn't meant to race, but it routinely kicks the crap out of every Camaro in the world around an autocross course:
Not bad for a racecar that isn't a racecar.
What about those 10-second minivans and K-cars? Should they not be doing that? Or is it OK since they're domestics, and slap my ****** and call me Bubba that's alright?

Ok, I'm tryin to put this gently. I heard someone else say this but it basically comes down to" who can go faster for cheaper."
I drive camaros because they're easier to work on, bolt on stuff is pretty cheap, and when i jump on the accelerator, it doesn't sound like a midget passing gas.
Civics get wasted everyday, all day long on the roads of america, by camaros and other american muscle cars.
I'm not ******* r!ce because the mazda rx-7 is no laughing matter. My friend has a second gen rx-7, he dropped in an lt-1 w/ a vette 6-speed. He burns my camaro all day long. But then again he does have chevy guts.

YEAH
And on top of that, its chevy V-8 guts! NICE....I wouldnt mind seeing something like that with a ls1 setup in it ... i just de-/r/i/c/e/d/ (have to do that so the moderator doesent edit it lol) another civic this morning at work.
Ive just about driven and seen it all,and the 4 banger cars just arent to my liking. Most are boxy, krappy riding, doggy, chincy pop can body, cheap ECONOMY CAR!!!! (p.s. im not narrowminded....ive driven and seen just about it all...honda,neon,sunfire,even freggin daewoo lanos with everything from headers to n20 to turbos to all that krap...they werent made to handle/hold-up like a sporty car,and suspension+driveline life ,etc is greatly shortenend.

Like i said before i went to school with a guy that had a old 280z with a hellatiously built 327 in it....Its foriegn,i don't consider it /r/i/c/e/ because he left the appearance alone(i.e no type-r stuff,no 20 colors painted dash(although he did make a whole new dash from aluminum),no 20' wing or "hella cool" g-effex bumper covers. It got my respect. Just about any light car with a REAL(v8) drivetrain rocks!
whatever im done. If the pro 4banger people want to drive fart cans go ahead, mabye you could start 50+mpg.org .........im sticking with my trusty, reliable, way cheaper to get parts for V-8!

If you want to compare times, this is how that Civic did at the Solo II championships in September, and this is how the equivalent Camaros did.
Not saying I'd take a Civic over a Camaro, but when a gearhead gets ahold of either car, it has potential to be fast.

Jesus you are right... Im In love with the look of my car. It just have the magic lines for my, normally I think that every car could look much cooler if it where wider, with a less tall roof, long roof, the only think that I like that the camaro dont have too much of it is a wider waist line (From top of hood, top of door and top of rear fenders just 2-3 inches wider than where the roof pilars meet the fenders)
How can Dodge could make the viper look so badass? And Make it look right in the next generation, and not make it look like a damm rocket-spaceship?
So It really dont matter to my what it has under that beautifull skin. So yes Im pretty superficial, I dont care who make the engine, the transmission, rear end, the interior, I just like the way it looks, and I hate the way 4th gen look, I think they killed the camaro, they should have taken the same aproach as Ford did with the mustang, or make like honda did with all the civics wich still look like a civic even with all the time that have passed (Same with the Porsche 911 but to a grater streng for much longer time) if it work just make it better but dont change the whole thing. (Proportions and general lines respect that)
So my dream car is a composite body tubular chasis 3th gen weighting a little more than 2400lbs with an aluminium small block full injection bi-turbo (no supercharger for me, no nitrous too) No super sound sistem (just something pretty normal not to go deft) and a pretty spartand interior but high quality, I dont want a drag car, not a sound system champion, not a hot rood. (No big block for my, thanks but I dont whant a damm anchor in the front end that only would work in straight line , maybe a big block aluminium)
I like other cars too, like an rx7 or datzun with an ls06, I like light cars with very good power to weight ratio and that can handle, but in looks the 3rd genn will always be my choice.
