Forming Fiberglass and Carbon Fiber Parts

Anybody have any experience making larger parts.

I have a picture in my mind of exactly how i want my car to look, and of course, no one makes what i need. I'm going to try and make new gfx package and hood for myself.

I have some ideas on how best to accomplish this, but any help would be appreciated.

The rocker pannels on the blue sc in my sig are totaly homemade fiberglass, so i have some experience. but they were built while on the car with a floorjack, 2x4, fiberglass filler, and a belt sander. Although this worked once, i don't think it'll work with my plan

I've looked into making moulds for the parts. and this seems like my best bet (also reproduction may be an option) but how would i go about making a template??? wood??? hard styrofoam???

Finnaly Apparently the process for making carbon fiber parts is sort of similar (i read too much car craft) would a mould process as above work for carbon fiber???

any ideas you guys and girls can throw me would be great.

Thanks

Right in my alley I have not made anything, but I've done a lot of research lately into making bodies. Here are a few sites:
