looking for paintable clear taillight covers
im getting a 86 camaro V-6 blah blah blah
always hated the tail lights on them and remember seeing some paintable clear tailight covers,
what i would like to do is basicly make the camaro look like it has corvette style tails
i think i can do it with the stock panels but dont want to spend the time in bondoing and smoothing them out then having to drill thru them to mount some round lights, BUT i do know that might look the best
and suggestions?

crap, i could have sworn i saw some in jcw about a year or so ago, well damn
im in south east iowa and it BLOWs here
fast and the furious has pretty much ruined the good ole stop light to stop light
see so many CRAPPY CARS
4 banger probes,
cavaliers
sunfires and sunbirds neons, all front wheel drive american cars, wtih HUGE ugly looking wings,
ROFLMAO
actually last night, i got my 3.8L to run pretty good after about 3 hours of tweaking that damned motor (regapped plugs, cleaned EVERYTHNIG so forth)
so i went out lookin ta smoke some wannabee's
pulled up next to this festiva!
had ducttape for racing stripes
same duct tape on the windows saying
01
ROFLMAO
then a edelbrock sticker, holley sticker, hooker stickers
k&N sticker,
then the wierd ones......
APC sticker across the windshield,
type-R stickers
and the muffler......... well
how to explain this.........
hmmmmmm
ok here goes
ever paint a big piece of pipe BRIGHT yellow? then put in some red christmas tree lights? well he had ti done like that......
ALSO the wheels were stock size, and just flipped inside out so they stuck out a bit, and THOSE were painted bright yellow (no flames for peoples with yellow cars)
he started winding his POS up
oh yea the wing on the roof, i couldnt tell what it was, but ill say something sort of like a 70's muslce car wing twin post one
stuck out like you wouldnt beleive
i didnt even wind mine up!
i just sat there laughing my *** off
he wound it up to redline and took off
i gently put my foot on my gas pedal and went off the line
got the speedo to about 15 or so and said F**K it and mashed it
right by him
so easy
anyways its not like one needs much to go against these wanabee's
but the vetran streeters around here , well those belong to people who work the entire week, then use whats left of there cash and make there car go faster i belong in this class,
we all have mutual respect for each other,
all except for one have rear drives,
a 4x4 s-10 blazer, with a 350 in it, pretty quick and definatly aggressive looking
anyways i know most of these guys, and if one of us is having car troubles, we always help em out.
i love the atmosphere around it all
friends with competition
anyways
any tips on converting the stock taillights to round ones?!

can't help you man ... if i remember they stopped making that package years ago. one thing you could do is find the package for converting c/k pickups to having bumper mounted corvette taillights, then see if u can buy just the taillight lenses. once you have those, you can get some * Lund "eclipse" taillight blackouts to use as a mold for fabbing up a plexi/lexan/fiberglass rear panel for ur car to cover the entire lights section. i remember that one blackout package also has a center section for covering the license plate. i'll search for it and see if i can find the pic/info
*edit - thought gts, but are made by lund

k here you go. had to search thru back posts, only to find out that they were posted by jawzforlife. funny, considering if i had just been lazy and put it off all my laziness would have paid off and you'd have pics anyway. oh well

practised with my regals's tails
no pic yet, and they aintpainted so no pics till there painted
i uesed bondo, and cover the entire thing with it
and sanded it down till it was COMPLETELY smooth
then used my uncles drill press and this WILD looking circle cutter blade bit thing
i used 4 red flush fit trailer lights i got at auto zone for 4.99 each, and the same but with clear lenses,
i pop riveted em in there, an left the aluminum rivets plan
looks pretty good so far, ill be able to tell if its a good idea or not once i get paint on em, to see just how smooth they realy are......
also
anyone know how to pull the head lights forward to the edge of the hood?
then i can put in some clear covers,
i believe itll look pretty good like that
no offense to camaro owners, i will be one soon
but i HATE those recessed head lights, and dont realy care for black outs
so why not pull the head lights forward and then slap some sort of cover over em to smooth it out?
or roughly how much to have some like plexi glass covers made?
can you paint the smoked black out covers?
thanks for AL the help
much appreciated
and BTW
THANK YOU to EVERYONE on these boards,
ive been members of MANY others, and none seem to have the same comradery as this one does,
sort of like an extended family or something?!
feel like if i have a question or problem i can come here and itll be solved within a day or two
