your best way is either get the door panels from a 91 trans am it has a cup holder down where your door has a pocket. Or get a console from a 4th gen. Other than that I never could come up with a good place to mount an after market one. I thought about getting one of the slide out ones out of a honda or toyota and mount it under my radio.

Thanks for the tips. I tried the aftermarket ones but I didn't like it. It seemed unstable and it blocked the radio.
Do the door panels of the '91 fit on the '85 without a problem? I got power locks and the remote mirror(not electric though).

For the newer door panels they fit but you have to rivot the armrest mount on the door I think, look around there should be some info on it. I think a company makes one of the newer style pockets with the cup holder that you can screw into your door.

But I would try the JunkYards first before paying 40 apeace.

The console is what I think looks the best, since the thirdgen firebird console is famous for comming apart, a manual console will mount straight in, you have to do some coversion is you want to have the auto shift plate. Most people just put the manual console in their auto cars and then just know the gears, you should be able to feel the gear you are in.
