Selling my car....need help with price!
I am going to sell my Camaro and i have no idea where to start the price at...here is what it has and/or will have when i go to sell it.
Its a 1987 Camaro IROC-Z
Body-
The Z is White and it has 110,000 miles on it. The paint is in good condition with a couple rust spots...nothing major. It has new tires on it now (not sure exactly how many miles are on them). No major dings, scratches, dents or anything.
Interior-
It has black interior with power everything, including power driver seat. The interior is in good condition with little wear. It has a pioneer headunit and pioneer premier speakers in it (i already know this will not increase the value of the car, just a little FYI)
Drive train-
It will have a BRAND NEW GM Goodwrench Crate 350 TPI. I dont have ALOT of info on it but i was told it was rated at 300HP...I bought it form my roommate...he works for a GM dealership and they ordered the wrong engine so i was able to get it for a good deal...only problem....i dont have that much info on it...it has the center bolt vavle covers...they WERE going to put it in a 93 Caprice. Chris (my roomate) said the retail on the engine was $2,000
The transmission is a 700R4 and it will be rebuilt before i sell the car.
Also it has a Flowmaster Cat back on it (i bought the car with that on there)
While i am doing all this there is some other stuff i will be replacing...stuff like Ball Joints, U-Joints, motor mounts, ect.
If you need any more info let me know....and i know you guys love pics...so let me go run outside and snap a couple for ya..
-Mike
ps...no i did not spell check

Maybe if you ebay the car ..
I would think you are looking at the price range of 3500-4500 locally..

Here's my $.02 for you...
The car appears to be a well optioned 87', looks to be an original 350 car with bose sound, etc. It seems like it has had a somewhat hard life though, the cracks in the roof and hacked off A/C hint to that. Other than that, there seems to be some rust creeping up in the usual places, hopefully not a huge deal. The motor you speak of is known as the caprice -TBI- goodwrench. It's gm part number 12513151 (right on that crate, too ), and sells for $1600 new. It DOES NOT make 300hp as it is, it -will- however with the addition of an LT4 hotcam (p/n 12551142). The cam is what weakens the motor out, here's the motor specs:
350 ci
2 bolt main
1 piece rear seal
nodular cast iron crank
LT4 powdered metal rods
roller cam - .360int .385exh 110LSA
iron heads, 64cc
9.6:1 C/R
I think it would be a great motor in that car, especially if you swap the cam. If I were looking at the car and the interior was put back together properly, motor (with LT4 cam) and trans swapped, the A/C refitted to the car, and everything seemed to be in good order with no wreck evidence, I would probably offer around $3500-4000 or so. Hope this helps!

Personally, the condition of the body would be the limiting factor on that car. My suggestion would be to clean everything up real nice, replace those interior panels and the ac, do a full tune-up, steamclean the engine and sell it. Take the crate engine and drop it in something more worthy of it or sell it since you got it so cheap.

My father always told me. "Son, never make major repairs on a car you are going to sell." Sell it as is with or without the crate engine. If you sell it without then put the crate in a nice body, otherwise let the buyer worry about the install and you make a profit from the engine.
