Hatch Realignment (Beyond the tech article)

Hey All,

Being the victim of a bad wrap around spoiler on a 90 formula I'm looking to go to a baseline decklid to eliminate my spoiler.

A few months ago I realigned my decklid before having the car resprayed, and had it aligned fairly well before reattaching the gas charged lift struts... Now the alignment is back off. The problem I believe is in the hinge alignment. If I were to measure the gap on both sides of the glass on top it would be off by say 1/4" (or more). Thus creating the problem with the alignment.

Anyone ever attempt this portion of the alignment? Any tips, recomendations? I'm thinking maybe just take this one to the body shop as to avoid shatering expensive glass!

Any help is appreciated!

I took the hatch off when we painted my car. If I remember right, one of the holes on the hinges is square.
You should be able to get a little movement out of it.
I can't really remember how much adjustment there is on the hinges.
You will need some help, those mothers are heavy!! That I do remember.

Good luck, hope this helps

Brian
