Mike, first, you remove the stock "idiot light" switches from the engine. They're called switches because that's all they do, switch on or off, depending on the engine's condition. Example, no oil pressure = the oil pressure switch turns on, and lights up the oil pressure light. (A dashboard with real gauges will use "senders" instead of switches.)
Then you connect the new gauges to where the old switches were, in the engine. If you use mechanical gauges, you'll actually lead physical tubing to the engine. Problem is, some holes (like for a temp sensor) will have to be large. A benefit of electric gauges is that they use stock-style senders. You screw them into the engine, and run a single wire from the sender to the gauge; as opposed to messing with tubing.
A volt gauge basically goes to a voltage source that comes "on" when you turn the car on.... kind of like the radio. And of course there's no mechanical gauge for that!
I have an oil pressure gauge and water temp gauge, both by Summit, 2 1/16th inch, in a dual gauge pod. I like the triple, though! I was originally going to just add air/fuel, but now I also want to add trans temp. Problem is, I don't know where to put the damn things.

DAMN, I wish I found a triple pod before I installed my double. Mine too is from Autometer, but I saw no listing for a triple. I need a place for an A/F gauge and don't know where to put it.

You know that, and now I know that, but they don't know that. Those knuckleheads probably think A-pillar pods were invented for them, so they think that you are copying them. But that wasn't really my point. I wouldn't want anyone to see my car and assume I'm in the same category as these kids with unnecessary gauges, lights, fire extinguishers, etc.
But, in the end, I'm sure you don't care what I, or anyone else, thinks about your car...as it should be.

True, never thought of that. Heh, next time I talk with a *****, and they mention the gauges, I'll be sure to say "had them since 96, before the import scene ever happened." I'll say that last part with a sneer.
And yeah I love the fire extinguishers mounted on the windshield... not to mention how hot the windshield gets!

Dual guage pods for a t-top = 52.99
Triple guage pods for a hard top = 52.99 ... WTF
The duals that summit sells are adheasive ones for 24.99. Do the ones that jegs carries replace the whole pillar?

Oh, just thought of a question. What did you have to do to modify them for the T-tops? How are they different from a hardtop one anyway? Thanks.

The triple one I have goes over the entire stock pillar.
I am not sure of the part number at the moment, but when I ordered it, I did it online and the part was listed when I did a search.

I love my 3 pod A pillar guage holder from Lo-Tek(sorry out of business) with the Autometer guages and I don't give a damn about the ricers. If they don't like it let's race.
