How high will my gauges go?

Stupid question, not really overly important, but I'm curious.

I will soon be purchasing a 4bbl Trans Am 305 V8 auto. I'm curious as to what the speedometer and tach are labeled to.

Well, my tach hits around 6500 b4 I hit a rev limiter, gas gauge is a given, my volt only goes a little past 13, my temp has hit the orange line, but no farther, and my spedometer will go past the 115. Did I miss anything? This is in an 89 Camaro RS 2.8L 5 speed, so urs might be different.

Oh I'm sure they will be... I had a 91 305 TPI (sig) and it had a 6k tach and 120MPH speedo... there are 85MPH ones, 120MPH ones, 150MPH ones... I'm just seeing if there's any way to know what this particular car's guages will say. Not that it matters, like I said, just curious.

There was some deal with the federal government I heard of; they didn't want fast speedometers. So usually, the early-mid 80's cars will only go up to 85 mph. That legislation died out, and that's why you see a 180 mph speedometer on a Geo Metro.

At least, this is what I've heard, I could be wrong; never bothered to verify it.

my 84 Z28 has a 145MPH speedo. It just depends on which one the car came with.
