can you pls remove the two middle support struts on the z28 spoiler so that it's more like a wing, and easier to mount ? i just want an idea of the finished product =)

So then how would you bolt it down??? If you bolted it to the quarter panels how on earth would you open the rear hatch???
Just pondering.

Red.. the highrise also has 2bolts per side holding it down to the edge of the hatch panel (at least the A&A one I bought does..).
Here's a crappy PsP hack

Yeah, as far as I know, the middle 2 attach it and the end pieces kinda float over the quarters without touching. It'd look cool but I think its too wide to mount properly. Now, my 88 SC aero wing mounts totally on the decklid, but its kinda goofy looking from some angles IMO so I want the 90's Z wing. But like I said I don't think you can mount it that way.

I thought the factory ones hover as well, it looks that way in the pic. Oh well, if the after market ones mount that way, then it could definately work. You would have to be careful doing it. I'm not sure what you would fill the holes in the spoiler with. If its fiberglass that would be no biggy, but if its plastic that would be harder. Don't know how you would fill the holes and have them hold up and look good.

Here's a swiped image from..

From the looks of it, the OEM wing seems to mount to the edges too. IMO also, it would seem a bit flimsy to just have the center hold the wing to the deck.

Huh how about that, maybe the factory one does mount totally to the decklid. Could it be just the aftermarket ones that don't? I still think it'd look funny from the back if it didn't go all the way to the edges of the body, thats a lot of the reason I don't like mine. The idea with the no centers is kinda cool though, its just making it work is the hard part.

Mine is an A & A Specialties I got from JEGs a good while back, it's supposed to be deadup like the stock one. The outermost bolts are barely on the edge of the hatch deck & the lip on the wing is made to where it looks as if it's not attached from the side (if that made any sense..). It doesn't come out as far on a firebird because the sheetmetal on a firebird is slightly wider in the back.
Here's a larger pic of mine..

Hmm.. They must have aligned that just perfect to get it to set on the edge there with the power close hatch feature. I also wonder why they put the two middle supports in if the edges are secured to the hatch. I'm sure it adds extra support, but surely someone would have done a mod by now.
