4th gen seats, color matching?
So, I snagged some '94 firebird gray seats off ebay. thought i was home free.
bolted one in, stepped back...and yuck, it looks brown and doesn't match my grey interior at all.
Anyone know if there is a 4th gen firebird seat with a better color match? Is this typical? am I being hypersensitive?

I guess my complaint is that it doesn't match my door panels or carpet either. I'm kind of disgusted with them at the moment. Maybe it's picky but you look at it and it just doesn't match!
I found this site:
http://tacreationsusa.com/seats.htm#CamSeatStock
Which has pictures of lots of 4th gen seats.
Apparently I have these seats, which are "light gray cloth"
What I guess I need is these seats, which are "graphite cloth"
Guess these "light gray cloth" seats will be going back on ebay. ugh!

I think it looks ok, but from the pics it does kinda look like the drivers seat is more of a brown than the other seat, but both together looks normal, so id say just stick with them

Well, here's two pics for anyone who is curious with both 4th gen seats installed. I'm not decided yet on what i want to do. I may hang on to them until I can find the matching color that I want. I guess they aren't quite so bad now that they are both in. (ignore the trash on the drivers side floorboard, that was found under the seat)

ok
that does make it easier to tell the color diff.. your camera's flash changes the seats from the darker color to a lighter color.. but with them both in there i can see now that they are the darker ones. Those seats look great none the less, have fun with them.
sorry about the bad info... camera threw me off

im may be retarded for asking this but when you bought them, did you clean them first?? it may just be that they are heavily stained with cigarette smoke or something..
just a thought

I didn't clean them or anything at all when I installed them, just bolted them in. They look, feel, smell perfectly clean/new.
In the sunlight (instead of light bulbs/fluorscent) they look like an even closer match. I'm going to leave them in for a while, maybe get a set of the "graphite" color ones and see if they are a better match in time...if so, swap them and sell off the old ones.
thanks everyone for responding!

I think the seats look fine, the only way they could look better is if they were leather....
If you insist on changing the seats then maybe you'd be better off finding seats from a 4th gen camaro, since you have camaro?
no offense intended, just a thought.

I went with the firebird seats because i've heard that overall they are a better seat (better bolsters, more comfortable etc.) than the camaro seats. They don't say firebird or pontiac anywhere on them, so I'm probably going to stick with firebird seats even if I do find a set that are the correct grey.
hey, i'll just call it a cambird, lol.

i see how it looks alittle "off" in the grey
but it still looks good
i've move on to other stuff for now then maybe go back to the seats and get them replaced if they haven't grown on you.
leave them in

I would stick with them for now. Maybe they need to grow on you. Stick with it and not think about it for a month.
And think of it this way as well; is it worth the hassle, money and time to find the color that you like?
If you ask me, they look pimp. But, it's your car and you have to drive in it.
