I have a 92 Camaro with an auto tranny. I would like to get a 4th gen console. Which years bolt in the easiest and is it from a firebird/ trans am or a camaro? What is involved with the swap? Also, do any doorpanels bolt right in? Thanks in advance!

you have a 'maro so get ready for some fun...

First off you need a manual Shift plate, if you want the auto plate to have as a guide, you'll have to move the shifter (the actual shifter) cuase the plate wil not line up.

Next you'll have to worry about waht to do with the gap, cuase 4th Gens use a two peice design, and the thirdgen Camaro uses a one peice design. You could always go like me and get a thrid gen 'bird radio pod and swap that in there, but you'll have to dremel your dash cuse the pod is an inch wider than the hole already in you dash. You'll have to fab up a way to mount the pod, once you get your old concole out, you'll see that finding a place to mout the pod is defiantly going to be custom.

I haven't mounted the pod yet, but the console holds it right where i want it so why bother... I will eventually...

Also you'l have to worry about the window switches and hatch release if ya got um...
