they are lexan, only good thing about em is they are lighter, they tend to scratch and haze up more than the glass ones.

I have them on my 91 camaro, I think they were only made for about 1 1/2 years.

Yup, lexan. Cheaper and lighter, but boy do they scratch and crack easy. They do stay cooler than the glass ones though. Personally I like the Lexan for long trips or sunny days, and the glass for normal city driving.

I have a set of the Acrylic tops from an 89, I think they made them from 89-91 or early 92.

I think what there made of is confusing to some people because they say "Leximar" on the top of the top. "Leximar" is the hard coating they used on them to resist scratches better. On the underside of mine they have a sticker that sais "Acrylic".

Lexan is Polycarbonate, and scratches really easily.
Plexiglas is Acrylic.

Lexan t-tops are much better becuase they will form to your t-tops in the heat and cold better than glass tops and won't leak. My g/f has these on her 91 Trans AM and spouts this off to me all the time.

I dunno, my glass tops have never leaked.... but mine will burn your hand if its been in a parking lot and you try taking them off, hers stay fairly cool all the time.

THAt is how I tell if something is glass or plastic. If you put your hand on Glass on a HOT day, they feel HOT, or Cold on a cold day.

BUT on plastic, there always kind of luke warm, not REALLY hot or really cold. The reason is, Glass conducts heat much better.

ive owned 2 early thirdgens and neither had ttop leaks, and i like the glass ones when they kind of reflect your interior but you still see through them late at night

I just had to replace the driver t-top after being witness to the sound of POP! I have a 92 RS with the lexan tops, and went to the junkyard today to get a replacement. I found one off a 92 bird and it looks like crap but seals nice, guy gave me a break on the top since the seats he sold me have stains i still cant quite get out fully, so the top was only 40 bucks.

I told the guy at the junkyard if he gets his hands on a really really nice set of glass ones then Ill buy them and try converting their pins over to fit lexan holes. Then I have the best of both worlds
