T-tops: lexan or glass, which is better?

I've got the opportunity to get a set of lexan t-tops for my camaro, which has glass right now. But is it really worth the weight I'll save? I mean, the weight difference can't be more than 10-15 lbs. I know lexan scratches easier. What other disadvantages are there to it? Are they more or less prone to leaking? Are they louder on the highway?

My lexan tops are spider-webbed with stress cracks. You can almost not see through them. I just bought a set of glass ones.
I prefer the glass.

I've never owned a car with lexan t-tops, and I've only ridden in one. I didn't notice any more noise or anything, but out of the four or five sets I've seen, every one was either scratched really bad, or in two cases cracked/broken.

I seen one guy who uses glass on the street and then switches to lexan at the track.

If I had a set of Lexan tops, I would paint them the body color. That way I wouldnt have to see the cracks and I think it would look good (except for the black stripe down the middle)

I would use them at the track, but paint them the body color.. I think it would be a cool change to have.. Get them, an extra set will never hurt...

I never had the lexan, but the glass is no problem. always clear with no scratches or cracks. I vote for the glass.

I have both. I like the lexan because they are tinted darker. My original set of tops was crazed, but you couldn't tell from outside. When I found a brand new set of lexan tops I didn't want to ruin them, and I thought I had a buyer for the old set, so I went and got a glass set for $40 to use during the summer (in AZ it's HOT!) and I switched back to the old set of lexans, as the glass tops let too much heat in.

Yes they craze, but they are darker and 20 lbs lighter. I vote Lexan.

Well, here's the catch: these t-tops are not for sale, they're for trade. Meaning, if I get the lexan, I have to give up my glass; I can't have both.
The glass tops I have now, at some point one of them must have been replaced because they dont match. One is mirror tint, and the other is not. It's hardly noticeable though, unless you're looking down at the car from up above.
I also noticed, (and maybe it's just not hot enough yet this year) the lexan does not seem to get as hot as the glass. The glass tops always burn my hands after they've been baking in the sun, and I have to play hot-potato to keep from either dropping them or burning my hands. Anyone else think the lexans dont get as hot?

I have lexan tops on mine, and they've got a ton of scratches visible on the interior and quite a few on the top, but I couldn't say what previous owners might have done to cause this. I can tell you that they don't ever seem to get really hot, and my interior likewise doesn't seem to absorb a whole lot of heat, which is nice because so far I haven't been burned by a seat belt buckle in the three summers I've driven the car.

True, the Lexan tops don't get very hot.

i have lexan t-tops on my 1991 firebird formula 350, i love them because they are much lighter than glass and more foregiving. But they do scratch and crack, but it doesnt bother me because u still can see through them, and they dont leak. I vote for lexan, i hear u can polish t-tops to make them look better, anyone ever do this.

Well, I've spent about 10 hours to sand the clear coat off and do a three stage polish to ONE of my lexan tops and, yes, it does clean up the appearance from the outside. However, the crazing that cg91ta mentioned is still noticable when looking out from the inside of the car. There is no way to fix that.

I have two sets of tops, one lexan and one glass. I usually run the glass ones. The lexan set will be good for the track as mentioned earlier. I'm also considering painting them for a different look.
