C5 dash and console into a 3rd gen
After sitting in a Z06 at the track a few weeks ago, I am totally in love with the dash and center console.
Anyone know if the width of the C5 Dash is close enough to our 3rd gen dash's?
This would be the ultimate Dash Swap.
The door panels on the C5 looks to be a bit shorter than on our cars though.

I thought about this at one time a while ago after sitting in a friends' parent's C5. It is way too wide to even begin to fit I think. At least thats what I remember. Also, take a look at the A pillars on the C5, then look at your stock ones. Good luck getting that to match up If you do decide to go through with it though, make sure you post lotsa pics. Also, I'm pretty sure it'll be a lot more expensive than a 4th gen dash swap....

I have three projects going at the same time in various stages of completion.
1) '89 Bird in sig. Painting it this week hopefully
2) '73 Pinto runabout w/2.3 turbo. Well, the engine and trans are in it anyway. Not much done after that. (Donated the 9" rear, looking for replacement)
3) My brother's '84 Camaro just got it back from the chassis shop. Had a 10 point cage 9" and ladder bars installed. Finishing up the interior right now. Engine most of the way done, fully built 700R4 in the shed out back.

I think what Jim85IROC's point is (and Jim correct me if I'm wrong) is that he has started a number of interior swaps and has not finished any of them. Not merely that his is constantly tinkering with his car, just that he keeps changing his mind on a project he has already started and/or comitted himself to.

Not just interior. He's pulled 180s on his motor as well as exterior plans, not to mention the 27 sets of wheels he's gone through. Poor kid could have had the car done 2 years ago if he could have made up his mind (and not blown up the 305).
Should be killer if he ever sticks to a plan and finishes it though.

i was gonna swap a 4th gen camaro interior into my Z28
then i thought to myself
"why did i buy this 3rd gen?"
maybe cuz its just that.......a 3rd gen
i was thinking about:
4th gen interior
corvette seats
ZR-1 wheels
corvette-style hood opening
then i said:
"dude, my car is gonna look like a rolling sports car junkyard if I do all this"
not just that, but it would cost me a fortune
long story short, if you want a C5 that bad, just save for one
i see 97's going for like $25,000
and considering what Zepher has into that T/A already, he's probably not that far off

Well,
I've spent $14K on the car, but all of my old parts were sold to get new ones so I have about $7000 in the car as it sits now.
I've only had the car 2.5 years, changed wheels 8 times, seats 4 times, motors once, intake setup 3 times, 3 spoilers, and that is about it.
Hopefully, it will look and run awesome when I am finished with it eventually.

Manny, someday your car will be done, and mine won't run 16s, but I'm not holding my breath for either.

At the rate I am going, my car won't be done till the next millenium.
Lack of motivation. I haven't touched the car in 3 weeks. I pulled the LT1 apart last week. Haven't done much else since.

The reason I keep changing my plans is because I decide to do something and then I see alot of people do it as well, so I try to do it a little different.
Everything I am doing from now on is being kept a secret.

I'm thinking the same thing, Manny.
I have a neat idea for a new dash for my 84, but I'm not giving out any details for sure yet.
It probably won't hapen until this winter, when the car is off the road due to snow and salt. (I have an S-10 coming my way soon to serve as a winter vehicle/everyday driver)
This car is obviously a long-term project, and I hope to have another thirdgen for a summer driver while the 84 becomes the weekend terror. That will hopefully be in about 2 or 3 years.
As far as the C5 dash goes..... If you can make it fit, try it. There si no limit to the imagination.
Right now I'm trying to figure out how to convert a CC hei distributor over to duty as an oil pump primer (call me too cheap to spend the 30 bucks for a good primer shaft) I think I should learn how to use a set of cutting torches (we have them in the shop here on the farm)
