Dynamat?

So I want to make the car quieter inside. If I had to choose places to lay down the dynamat, where would you put it.

In the trunk so it absorbs the noise from the tail pipes? Or in the front under the seats and feet area? Would you cover everywhere on the floor underneath the carpet, or certain places. How much of that stuff would you need. 26 square foot roll should be enought then I guess.
If I'm not too concerned about how my stereo sounds, I just want to dull out the engine noise and stuff.... would you still recommend this stuff?

Also would you guys recommend Dynamat extreme over plain old Dynamat?
And lastly, I heard it kind of has an oily smell. Is that true, is it noticable and if so will it go away?

I'm gonna buy whatever you guys recommend as soon as I get some responses. (My carpet is still not glued down and all my seats except for the drivers one are still out)

Thanks!!

Wow. Is it really that necassary for it to be so quite? lol

Anyway if you want to try something cheaper then dynomat you might want to try B-Quiet. You can get it at http://www.b-quiet.com . I never used it but it's alot less expensive than dynomat.

I bought a 4sq ft roll of dynomat and that got me nowhere. So I said screw it, Dynomat costs too much and just put everything back together after I replaced my carpet.
