Which Carpet do I need
I am gonna replace my carpet, thats what the editor says I need to put me into HPP magazine.
which carpet do I need.
CARPET COMPLETE WITHOUT CONSOLE CUT OUT MOLDED CUT PILE 260.00 8290
CARPET COMPLETE WITH CONSOLE & CUT OUTS MOLDED CUT PILE 260.00 8289
CARPET PASSENGER WITHOUT CONSOLE CUT OUT MOLDED CUT PILE 140.00 2635
CARPET PASSENGER WITH CONSOLE CUT OUT MOLDED CUT PILE 140.00 2633
CARPET REAR HATCH AREA MOLDED CUT PILE 110.00 2634
CARPET FLOOR MATS 4PC FM04
the carpet in my hatch area is still good, its just the passenger area that is all old looking, so I'm guessing I'd need the "Carpet Passengers with console cut out" the console cut out just means its cut for the shifter and all rite?

what editor told you this......sounds like they are trying to stall.....
from your prices it looks like you'd save 10 bucks just ordering seperate. if your rear is fine i'd just leave it and go with the carpet passenger console cut out(basically the front to underneath the rear seats)......without the cutout it is a little harder.
i purchased ACC complete compartment with the shifter cutout and i also got the center console pieces.
center console was already in good shape so i just left it alone and as far as the shifter "cut" you'll have to do some cutting still to make it fit as well as going along the side edges of the floor.
all in all it isn't hard and will brighten up the interior quite a bit. i know the acc carpet was alot better made then my stock piece.....but, i don't know about any other companies.
good luck.

Tom Demauro told me this, he wants me to meet him at E-town sometime, but i dont get out there much. I only mentioned a small little pic in when I was talking to him, but he was telling me once i get the engine compartment cleaned up and replace the carpet that he wants to do a full feature article w/ photo shoot.

i thought you put new carpet in with the seats?
yeh you are right, but the cut will be too small, so i have heard, and will require a little more trimming.

When you pull your old carpet out, lay it above the new carpet, and use it as a basis for trimming the holes. The new carpet will have a way-too-small cutout for the center console, and no cutout for the rear seat's center bolt area. There will be a bit of extra carpet extending out of the doors, so you'll have to trim about 1/2 inch off each side to get the carpet to fit under the door rails. You're also going to have to punch thru the carpet (with an awl or icepick) to make holes for the seats, seat belt mounting holes, and door rails.
When cutting the carpet, measure 50 times and cut once!!! Trial-fit the center console after each cut you make. I got overzealous, and cut about 1/2" too "wide", you could see the metal of the trans hump near the passenger seatbelt. I took a piece of the new carpet that was cut out, and put it behind the hole.

I need to get a new carpet in my 86 and was wondering what is the difference between the "with center consol cutout" and "with out the cutout" I also have the carpet on the console now which is grey and I am going black so I need to change that also. Can anyone help. 86fyrbrd maybe we can get together and do the shoot . I plan on contacting a lot of magizines when the car is all said and done. Hopefully you will see my beast in the pages of your more popular gm mags and maybe on a cover or 2. Who know. maybe I need to hurry up and redo my 88 also and then have 2 cars in the mag. The cover could read "attack of the 86 f-bodies" for our cover. oh boy i need to get my damn car.

One doesn't.
I just explained how to make your cuts. It's in the message right above yours.

I would just replace all the carpet. The colors on the new and old sections probably won't match. I didn't think my carpet was faded untill I started pulling it out and I saw what the original color was (night and day difference)

Just got it out in Carlisle today, paid $108 including shipping, show specials are great, otherwise it would have been $140+shipping.
