Check that place, they originated the kit. I put considerable time and research into this kit before I started working on my car. Now, the only thing I really want from it is the Lamborghini doors ... that would definitely make the doors lighter.

I'd be amazed if GM could have made the doors any heavier.

The doors are the only thing I'd do the conversion for.

Well somebody better do it!!

and make sure you take lots of pictures while you're putting it together

I have actually seen the EVO I and I thought it looked pretty cool. That was a while back and at the time I didn't know what I was looking at. If I had a lot of extra cash lying around, I would put that kit on my other camaro!

if i was so loaded i had about 30 grand lying around collecting dust, i would buy another camaro, buy the kit, and have a really good shop install that, as well as the 500hp engine i need to move it with all that extra weight. i would be curtious enough to use a berlinetta with a seized engine though.

seems most camaro guys dont wanna modify their camaros for looks. Me and CrazyHawaiian are gonna be 2 of hte most modified camaros on the state of hawaii O_o in accounts of looks anyways. Mods also though both of our cars are gonna be modded out. Right now my front bumper conversion is going well. Hopefully i'll be done by sunday. (R34 Skyline front bumper) after I'm done I'll post up pics. Soon after that R32 GTR tail lights, R34 GTR headlights, then onto the rims and suspension.

I'd like to save it since its rare ... maybe swap in another one wheel wonder rear? I'd be amazed if GM could have made the doors any heavier.
If you think 3rdgen doors are heavier than a 69 Impala.. share what you're smoking with me. Blame the door dragging problem on crappy materials & shoddy workmanship/pride/skimping on materials 1st. Pick up an older GM door (from a 2-door car) & amaze yourself that GM did make heavier doors. (do you honestly thing a 3rdgen door is heavier than an 86 Monte door ?)

as well as the 500hp engine i need to move it with all that extra weight.
How much exactly do you think fiberglass weighs ?

Rice kit.
I know Steve has been through this as much as me but, I'll repeat it once more to save him the trouble.

The EVO kit is a Kit Car, nothing more, it's not a 'body/gfx kit'.. it's the same principal as making a Fiero a Lambo... A Kit Car. The 3rdgen shell is merely a platform to build a custom car on.

Is it expensive.. hell yes it is.. when is the last time you've seen a cheap AC cobra replica ? or any other along the same lines.

Said it before, i'll say it again, when you drive something like that, going fast obviously is not a concern. Hence, the use for 4 cylinder camaro's. Anyone ever seen one, what does the engine look like ? I know my old RS V6 had lots of room in between in the engine and the radiator, I can only imagine what a 4 looked like.

No joke about the Cobras. The advertised $10k just gets you in the door.

hold on........being a berlinetta does not automatically make it a 4 cylinder

also the 4 cylinder was a straight four, so room inbetween the engine and radiator would be about the same as an 8

i am sad and i think i might just sell my camaros, buy a Yugo, and find a new profession other than being a mechanic

You know, I was gonna go there, but figured "why bother" - all it takes is one simple clown to come in here, NOT read through all of the posts and repeat the argument that it's "rice" with nary an attempt to think about it for a second. Apparently the concept is beyond the ability of some to grasp. It's just like the kits that throws a Cobra kit body onto a fox-body platform - in the end, no one gives a crap that it's on a "Mustang" - it's a kick *** Cobra that runs 12's and is easy and cheap to work on and "hop up".

I'm not sure what you're referring to, the Evo or the four banger. Let's just say, if it were me doing the kit it wouldn't hit the street until it would whip the as<x>ses of 90% of the street cars out there. I would certainly start with a beater that had either a siezed engine or no engine - a car that wasn't going anywhere OTHER than a junkyard.

On top of that, I'd tell people it's a Volkswagon Bug platform - just to rub it in.

Steve

Could care less what anybody does to a Ford. Just don't know why you want to rice up a classic. Try a Honda or something like that. I don't recall ever seeing any Camaros or Firebirds in that movie the fast and the furious. There was a nice Charger but it was done right. More junked Camaros just means they will keep being more desirable. And thats all I got to say about that.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but the 3rd gen wil never be a classic. Furthermore everyone here has already modded the hell out of their cars so they won't be collectibles anyway.

Not bursted here, to each it's own. To me all Camaros are classics. I wasn't refering to them being collectibles. Modded/stock....still a classic GM product.

FYI, the EVO I and II full body fiberglass replacement kit lowers the weight of the car over 1000 pounds to 2890 pounds w/o driver. After swapping in low weight suspension components (tubular) and an aluminum engine (LS1) it could be somewhere around 2650-2700 pounds without driver. Thats pretty light for a domestic (lighter than my 85 mustang svo 4 cyl turbo).

Just another great reason to do the kit!!

Believe me, when I'm done with my Evo II, it will look so different that nobody would ever guess its 3rd gen Camaro based. So dont worry about my 'rice' reflecting on your reputation ... that is unless u meet up with me at a stoplight ... THEN BE VERY AFRAID!!! :sillylol: Vrooom Pssshhh!!!

hey i saw everyone fighting back and fourth here so i thought i would throw in my .02 cents bout it,
first of all it is whoevers car,and it is there dec. to make it run/look/perform,however they fell like it,they paid/paying for it,its there choice, and whoever would call your car a ***** b/c they saw another 3rd gen with this badass kit on it,are just friken stupid anyways,i dont think it is rice at all,to me this kit looks like one of the baddest looking vehicals every "made"ive seen them up close, luv everything bout them, except few interior thing's,but that is just my opinion,

anyways,if anyone wants to buy this kit there is a guy that builds kit cars in my town, and he has a full kit forsale,he is asking 4000 for it,let me know if your interested thanks.

Yo man I get the same **** though. except kinda vise versa. I get stereo typed as a drag racing guy who only likes domestics and will hate on all imports. And that I think I'm bad *** and that i can spank any car out there. Its not only the guys doing import type mods to the their camaros that are giving the camaro a "bad rep" in your opinion. I dont like all these guys here who have a stock 91 Z with drag racing rims, and what not. ANd they think they can spank any import out there. Just cause they got a Z I mean come on. Although you could take a good amount. Not all. One guy tonight in a trans am was looking at me all funny cause of the wing, hood, etc. That I have on my car. He was all eyeing me out. Then when he pounded it trying to show off. Didnt even do much. Sounded like a Lo3 with nothing but cherry bomb mufflers. Idle was nice and smooth and everything. This guy thinks he can take me just cause of my "rice boy" mods? I can take out most 3rd gen Z's and GTAs and what not. Well if their stock or only slightly modified. But cause I'm a "rice boy" they imediatly think they can beat any "rice boy" out there. I mean...damn this isnt making much sense. But I'm saying their are dumb asses on both sides. Dont blame just one. Its not the the style of the driver. Its the drivers who give a car a bad name. (same with most mustang guys who think their gods. like my friends brother with a 5 speed GT thinking he could take me. I showed him he was wrong. And that was when my car was slower)

(sorry for that I was mad at the moment when I replied to this post)

im buying that EVO kit II as well. In fact thats the only reason why i bought a beat up thirdgen. anyways... i have a question

to the hawaiian guys... have you done the interior yet??? i was talking with paul, the guy in ohio that supplies the kits, and he said it was easier to do the interior 1st.

hey guys.. even if you dont like the outside of the car.. you have to admit the interior kits are cool as hell.. im definately getting that kit. looks awesome..

k but anyways.. has anyone done the interior kit yet? just askin.

The hood and the doors

It would be smooth if they somehow made that hood and the doors adaptable to the third gens without the rest of the body panels. My comment about the 4 banger camaros was just that I would have this thing as a cruiser, not a bruiser. I've a IROC 350 to layeth the smack down.. this thing would just be something to take to car shows and ****... or just to cruise. Well ok, maybe an RS, I wont comment on berlinetta's.... Anyhow, I would make this into one of those cars where you don't have anything to prove at a stop light. It looks smooth, and your opponent would be to busy trying to figure out WTF it is to even try and flex on you. Thats just my opinion in the matter. When I was giving this kit serious consideration, I had an RS, wouldn't do this to my IROC though..

Well I'm not gonna do the EVO kit. But I seen that interior and I thnk it looks pretty damn nutz. But thats not the path Imma go. Imma make my interior full race looking. ALready have the back seat back stripped and repainted. Just need race seats, gauges, etc. and I'm all good for the interior.

I'm still trying to figure out why they put NON FUNCTIONAL air scoops on top of the t-tops You'd think they would have at least found a hardtop car if they were gonna use those things....

(sorry for that I was mad at the moment when I replied to this post)

ok whatever........you just totally missed the point i was trying to make

now go have fun playing honda-wanna-be.......................................

I hate when people speak stupid. Bitch I wasnt trying to talk **** about you. I was just trying to say their are two sides. Both sides have bad flaws. I dont like it how camaro guys put drag racing rims. Raise up the back end. Lower the front. PUt this huge scoop on their hood when they dont even have a super or anythign under it. blah blah blah. You dont like how some guys "rice out" their cars. I dont like how camaro guys..."beef out" *shrugs* their cars.
