Power Window Swap Complete!

I successfully swaped out my manual for power windows this weekend, not really that hard, all i had to do was swap out the motor and regulator(which is a LOT easier to do when you remove the bracket that guide the window), i already had all the wiring ran when i put the locks and alarm in, *** i love power windows, now what to do with all this manual stuff

How much did the swap cost you? I am interested in doing it. Do you have any pics from during the process? Thanks

unfortuanetly no i dont...i can try and type out the most detailed description i can give you though...

i went to a junkyard and got the motor and regulator(which is all one peice), and the console buttons for $120...like i said, the wiring was already ran(it was bundled with my power locks wiring), so i already had half the job killed...

yes the whole car was manual everything when i got it...i got a viper alarm, and someone off of here was nice and sold me power locks and wiring, and since he had power windows and locks, the wiring is ran with each other, so when we dropped the locks in, we also took the extra 5 mins to route the wiring for the windows...

take a look at my tech articles if you're considering adding power windows or power locks. article has a list of the parts you'll need, some pictures and an overview of the install procedure.

I did the conversion to PWR Windows too.. wasn't sure what to do about the hole from the window crank, so I put a tweeter in it instead. Looks Good.

This might not be very relevant, but how fast do the windows go up? Mine seem to steal power from eachother when I put both up at the same time. Is that just the way they are, or do your (newer?) motors have more pep?

BTW, good work with your swap

mine in my 4th gen maro do that, the driver steals the power from the passanger. i think its just cause they are old and slow

GM power windows are notoriously slow. Someone should make aftermarket ones that go up and down fast. I noticed that Chrysler's seem to have fast power windows. I guess something about them had to be faster.

in my dads truck (95 chevy k-1500) they are very fast, about 4 or 5 seconds to roll them down and back up.

ok, i have a question. How in the heck do you get the door panel completely off?? I can get the panel off from the bottom all the way up to the black plastic piece that runs across the top of the door. I need to get this off so i can get the whole panel off.

HELP i need to get this done ASAP as the motor died and the window is stuck about 2-3 inches down.
