SS hoods
Can you guys/gals post any pics of camaros w/ SS hoods on them? I recently screwed up my RS hood and would like a SS hood if it would look good. Also could I possibly talk someone into photoshoping a SS hood on my car? I dont have a pic of the hood, so if you don't feel like looking for a hood to photoshop onto it, dont worry bout it. Thanx alot .

lots of pics of cars with aftermarket hoods here:
http://www.chevyworld.net/thirdgen/chood1.htm
I have the SS Hood on my 92 RS and I think it looks great....my car is the last one on the right side on the 3rd page (old pic....)
hope it helps.

Forgot to say thanx to SloStangEater and zer0321 for the sites, and bassetracing for the pic, they have convinced me to get an SS hood. Now another question....do you think I should paint it the same gunmetal gray that my car is now or paint the SS part in the middle a different color...say black or whatever. Thanx again.

Are you refering to the top of the scoop or the part where it indents for the ram air? The top of the scoop paint the same color of the car, the indented ram air part.... I dont know if I like it, but it might look cool like a darker gray, I dunno. my .02
Im sure it will look good either or to you...

personally, I think a white stripe would look great on your car......I think the SS Hoods look a little bare/akward without a stripe....I have a custom grey stripe on mine that matches the 15" 5-spoke Z28 style grey/black rims that I have on there now.
yeah, the hood makes a big difference in the appearance factor of the car, i've had tons of people (that I don't know) come up to my car and admire it, though some people here will tell you that you are trying to mislead people into thinking you have a V8, but hey why would you ever want to do that?
It's just my opinion but I think that you should consider a 91-92 High-Rise Spoiler, I think it looks great with the SS Hood (and it sets your car apart from the boring & trashed-out typical opinions people have of the thirdgen camaro) and since you have to have the hood painted anyways you might as well do it at the same time...
Well, Good Luck!
show us some pics once you get it on

at the bottom of the post reply part there is a browse button...just hit that, find your pic, and hit ok. It should post it, but you can only do one per post...not exactly sure on how to do more than one at a time per post.

one more question....on that middle "ram air stripe" should I end it at the camaro sign, or go down to the grill, or past the grill to the bottom of the front gfx?

Ya, thats what I was thinking, the camaro sign comes down to a point and kinda finishes the stripe for me. I think Im gonna do a black stripe, but it won't be till the end of the summer. Gotta make some moola first, but I will definately post pics when it gets done .

Check my hood out
I made my own hood...cost a lot less. Bought the scoo[ from Jc Whitney, cut my hood and glassed it in, it is functional. Check it out on the reader's rides section

Dude that is SSSWWWEEEETTTT!!! But I'm not that talented and like to go the "pay-for-professional work" route...guess I'm lazy, oh well. It really don't bother me if it is functional or not, I'm going for looks, not speed, or else I woudn't have a 2.8L right now . I would love to be able to do stuff like that and get results like yours, but autobody work isn't my field.

i think i may not have exactly the colors you were thinking but i think if the stripe extends a lil past the symbol and then terminates in the appropriate point then it will look even better. heh heh as an extra i added the clear turnsignals that i've seen floating around here and there i think they look cool and wanted to see what they looked like so i gave it a whirl and think they turned out nicely...here's my contribution...

^^^^^^Love it, that looks great, thanx alot . Where should the stripe end though? I was thinking end it when the front stops slanting and goes strait down into the grill...almost where you had it, but a tad bit farther

Perhaps like this, w/ the black stripe....it isnt very good cuz all I have to use is paint, if someone can do it better, like Archael, go ahead and try. Now that I look a little bit harder at it, I like where Archael ended it the first time.....

hey all, can't believe this came back, lol. But I've hit a money problem, my car hit its "mid-life crisis" and is breaking sht left and right. Had to do a new clutch, alt, ignition lock cylinder, starter, and battery. So I am moneyless right now, so the hood and paint job have been postponed . But I had a new idea for the stripe....instead of ending it at the camaro sign, just follow the smyetrical curve of the hood and let it end where it ends, can someone photoshop this if they know what im talkin bout? thanx. Any other ideas on stripes or ways to paint it while I'm askin?

sure:
I'll take one tommorow (when it's light out) with my digital camera so you can have a look
it's a good thing you caught me - it's being taken in to be repainted (hopefully with the same style stripe) tommorow...I think what your "idea" is, is the same as what is on my car...let me know if it is after I post a pic)

New idea, can someone photoshop it for me? It might be kinda hard to show in a pic, but what I was thinking is that the camaro emblem is red white and blue, in that order, sooooo, run a red, white, and blue stripe respectivly (sp?) and have them end at the camaro sign....the white make them proportional or whatever u wanna call it so that they are all the same size. I think it would look pretty sweet, even patriotic, and definately origional or mabye a boe-tie or RS on the cowl part of the hood, hell iunno, just throwin out ideas, give me some feedback and ideas of ur own please!!
