Paint body side moldings?

Hello,
I went to Maaco today for a quote on painting my 88 IROC. Their best paint job with clear coat (Signature Serice) is on sale. Usually its $1029 with the prep job, now its $679. I've heard of all the horror stories but this is my daily driver and everyone else wants $3,000. They said that I could leave the body side moldings on and they could paint over them. The car is red. I didn't know if the plastic itself is red or are they painted at the factory. Do they come black or color specific? If they're painted to begin with then fine but if not, I want to put new ones one and not risk painting them (might not stick).
thanks guys
Craig

THEY HAVE PAINT ON THEM. OTHER PAINT WILL STICK OVER THEM. YOU CAN PUT JUST ABOUT ANYTHING OVER FACTORY PAINT/PRODUCTS. I REPAINTED MINE WITH ACRYLIC LAQUER, WITH NO PROBLEM. MAACO WILL USE URETHANE...YOU HOPE.
