My Interior Remodeling :)

Hey guys, I decided that it was time to dive into my interior before I get my paint job (that way I'm not carrying stuff in and out of the car with a brand new custom paint job) She's getting new headliner, sunvisors, sailpanels, carpet, seats, door panels, and recovering the system (which I cutout the JL symbol to a chevy bowtie). The seats, door panels, and system are all leather. I've got the Firebird Radio pod to go in and I pick up my 4th gen console next week. I think it'll give the interior a nice touch. Thanks for looking guys, click the link to go to my progress page and see all the pics and here's a pic of the front seats. The system is getting covered in all black.

**note**
The guy screwed up the headrest as you can tell in the pic and put a silver back on it with black on the front. I had that fixed right away, lol. Looked stupid with an all black back with a silver headrest. I'll have the finished product up as soon as it's done, thanks again.

Thanks alot man, I think it will look better with black on the back of the headrest. You have any pics of your car with the 17in Cragar's??? I'd love to see them, I've never seen the 17's on a car before. Thanks again.

Those look sweet!!!!! I added the pic to my collection, lol. First time I've seen them actually on a car. Alot of talk about em, but never saw a pic, lol. I like it, looks like you need to shave though, looking a little rough around the edges, lol.

HeHe ya. I always wanted to see the Cragars on a Camaro. I had wanted them but I found a rim that I fell in love with.

The Dagger, hehe:

Your car is looking great, keep it up. Thanks again. Buy a Mach 3 hehe

Thanks on the grille, it adds a nice touch to the car. Ya, they are Billet Aluminum, light weight, made by Centerline so you know they are a good wheel. I'm painting my car near the beginning of June, Dupont Midnight Black with Blue Pearl ghost flames, and my 91-92 Z28 High-rise spoiler goes on with the paint. Your car is looking bad too. Me likes the Cragars, lol.

There mine!!!!!!! Just kidding. Those are my original seats just redone. I got everything in the car now (new carpet, headliner, etc etc). Now I just have to put my kickpanels, door sills, and other little plastic pieces back in and I will be good to go.

I used to goof around with ya and joke that trash lookin hood, but after staring at it for 1 hour cuase i am brain dead, i finally come to the realization that its bad ***.

Those seats look really good, did you get the back seats recovered? Or wait, do you have backseats?

A 4th Gen dash and door panels man, would be the way to go.

Here's a pic of the rear seats

I helped with the work, I ripped everything out, designed everything. A computer did the stitching which was cool. I just designed it on a computer, centered the piece, and it stitched the design. I have most of it in the car now, I just have to put my kick panels, door sills, and my subs back in. I'll post some more pics tomorrow of the finished product. Thanks alot guys. It cost me $1330 (includes seats, door panels, recovered system, headliner, sailpanels, sunvisors, and the carpet) I knew the guy so I got somewhat of a deal but it was well worth the money. It feels and looks like a brand new car now. Well, it will once I get my console in, lol. Thanks guys.:lala:

Re: My Interior Remodeling :)

RamAirZ,

Nice Car! Great job on the interior. Couple questions. On your front seats, are the backs grey? Do you think this contrasts very much with the black bolsters on the seats? And is that real leather or vinyl...either way its sweet.

Thanks man.:hail: RamAirZ's Interior

Thanks alot. No, the backs of my seats are all black along with the backs of the headrests now. I will have some more pics tomorrow. It's called Foe Leather. The Black is called Montana Onyx I believe, and the Silver is called Grand Prix Silver/Grey. It's LIKE a vinyl due to it's durability but it is extremely soft and cushy feeling like Leather. Has that **squish** sound when you sit down into it, lol. I love it. I picked this material due to the extreme heats here in Florida, and having a Black car means even hotter interior temps. It's listed under their Leather options.

That whole car is sweet Dallas. Nice job on the seats too.
I'm seriously going to check into getting mine recovered, but if its too costly, I'm just going to go the easy way with 4th gen seats.

Great job.

Thanks alot Rick, ya, I was going to go 4th gen seats, then I started thinking. I would be having stitching done to them anyways, so why not do it to my originals. Plus I love my seats, 3rd gen seats are so comfortable, lol. Good luck and thanks again.

The 4th Gen Console + Bird Pod will be fun, thats my current project, just bolted the console in today. I had the pod laying in my car without a console for like 3 weeks. (Feels funny haveing an armrest again)

Tips: You will have to use different holes in the glove to be able to move the console farther back so that the pod will be able to fit in fluh with the 'maro dash. Also the vents will have to be cut (the ones that camo out on the 3rd Gen console sides) and the dash will require a lot of dremeling, i have some more work to do tommorow night, but I'll post pics. Looks great, though me POS Sony HU and Phramid EQ throw off some of the looks

I'll Post pics tommorrow afternoon, and show ya what I got so far!

Here's a pic of the pod in the car. I ordered a new faceplate from Next Generation, and I pick up the console this saturday so everything will be finished off. I have some more pics of the finished interior, but I need to get them up on my site, then I can post them. I didn't have any problem with the pod. I have it right againt the dash and everthing works perfectly. I just need the console now and I'll be set. I'll post pics in a few. Lata guys.

Wow those seats look really awesome. I like the black headrest, but either way, it's gonna look killer. Someday I'll redo mine. Maybe that will end all the rattles. First I gotta paint my newly crashed front nose and work on some performance things. Sweet car man.

YOU SUCK! YOU GOT CUPHOLDERS OUT THE WAZOO! lol, looks good though, I like the blue petals. How do you like your sony headunit? I have one and I like it but seems like nobody else but me likes it. and is that a no smoking sign I see there by the shifter?

I would have two more cupholders, but the guy I ordered from (fellow thirdgenner) got the money order, cashed it and never sent it, returned any email, or haven't posted any message on her since. Oh well...

Yeh the pedals are cool, you should see them GLOW!!! As far as the Sony is POS and i would recomend Alpine or Poineer. The NO SMOKING sign is a plug for the cigerette lighter I got at napa, I dont smoke so i would only need the cig for accessorries (I cant have a radar )

Were those petals full petal replacements, or where they like just covers that slide over the origional petals. I know autozone sells them and they just slide over the existing petal. I want some of them that glow blue, to go w/ the blue gfx lights i wanna get. Why does everyone hate sony? I haven't had any problems with it, and if I did, it could happen to any CD player. That no smoking thing is cool, i would get one but I have a blacklight plugged into my cig adapter.

i like your new setup... now throw some MTX or Rockford in there and loose the JL and you'd be set

I dont think I am very fond of the doorpanels, i'd liked you old ones better!

Car is looking good bro, congrats on an excelent job.

And yes the car is slowly coming together and I sure am having fun

My W3's will take Rockford or MTX (especially MTX). I love my JL's. The only brand I would take over JL's would be Mmats, Eclipse Titanium, or Kicker XPL's or L7's. But the thing I like about my JL's is they are a great combo of Sound Quality and SPL. Ya, I like the door panels but I think they need a little something, like some kind of stitching in the silver area, maybe Camaro or Z28 or something. Looks to open. Thanks alot. About the grille, I just found out about 2 weeks ago that it was discontinued. You can check Godfatherscustoms.com and see if they have any left. Thanks on the comment about my taste. I'm trying to make my car different but tasteful all at the same time.

you need new sail panels that match now and new carpet, the carpet doesn't work well with the new color scheme

Me no like JL

I for one do not care about SPL... It's all about how it sounds to me. Nothing else matters. JL's are all about hard bass, and it does not sound very good. Rockford Punch HX2's have a good thump (though not as hard as JL) and the bass sounds good and is precise. It's good sounding bass. How hard it hits is not important to me, as long as it hits decent and sounds great. Though, if someone wanted a good entry level SPL setup, I would defiantly recomend it, but its not for me. Now do you understand?

I don't know who's JL's you heard, but mine are clear as can be as far as Sound Quality goes. They don't skip a beat and hit hard to boot. Which series did you hear and what kind of amp??? That makes a difference too. Rockford's are nice subs, especially the HX2. My carpet is new, but it looks like a purplish color cuz of my camera, it is a medium type grey and goes with the color of my side panels. My sail's, headliner, and sunvisors are all new as well and are done in the same material. The camera makes them look a little off but it goes together quite well. Thanks alot guys.

Dallas, I like the way your whole car has turned out, interior is very nice.

86Z, the seats you posted, I do not like them at all. I think the over abundance of writing will draw someones eye too much. Not to mention the multi-coloring.

My .02.

Thanks alot Rick. It's still got more to come. I appreciate the kind words. He didn't have teh exact Z28 font so we tried the best we could to get it right. I think it turned out pretty good.
