GFX Question

Hello,
I have a friend in my town that has acquired an 83 z-28 for a parts car. He has graciously allowed me to get parts I need/would like for my car. I am really wanting GFX, and I was wondering if anyone thought these were in good enough condition to sand em down and paint to put on my car. Here is links to pictures of the car:

I am also wanting the hood, but as you can see it has some ripples in it on the top where the latch is, could anyone give me a rough esitmate of how much a body shop would charge to fix it?

I am also thinking about getting the clutch/brake assembly incase I ever decide to put a manual transmission in my car. It looks as if its a mechanical clutch, does anyone else agree?
Han

Keep in mind the 82-4 gfx are smaller than later years and also had a different nose. Finding pieces-parts, if you don't have all the gfx, can be a challenge if you live in a suck a-- city where these don't exist in junkyards.
I'd personally keep the clean look you've got going on with you car. But, that's just me... I don't get a chubby over a car with gfx as opposed to one w/o. A nice, clean car is a nice, clean car.

Take a picture or two of the hood to a local body shop and ask. County to city to state.. paint & labor prices vary alot.

The z-bar clutch setup is worthless unless you're wanting restoration parts. The pedals/brackets may work with the hydro clutch setup though.. I don't know about that one.

Only my opinion though.. results may vary

I have all GFX, so needing other parts won't be a problem. I understand your point of view about a clean car, but I like the ground effects.

This z-bar clutch, I would like to know if it could be used with a hydraulic setup, because one day I plan to put a 5-speed in the car.

I have the "Camaro" grille with fog lamp provisions will that fit that front bumper?

One last queston also, that car was originally a V8, and my car right now is a V6. What all partswll I need off the v8 car to put in mine so a V8 will fit?
Thanks,
Han

You will need the front and rear bumpers, as well as all the ground effects. Your grille won't fit. Basicly, you will convert you car to an 82-84 Z on the outside. V8 conversion, you will need everything V8 related....more involved than the body conversion. I'd rather see you do the engine swap than the body conversion.
