If it's somewhat light, try Turtle Wax Chrome Polish/Rust Remover. It worked great on my old wheels' 10 year old chrome centercaps. It's made just for that situation. If it's a little heavier, you might be able to sand it down with some fine sandpapar (not enough to go through the chrome, just to smooth off the rust), and go over it with a metal polish.

can you say COCA--COLA?!?!?!?!?!?
Seriously, it works great!!!! If you don't believe me, try it to get the rust off your bathtub or outta the toilet first!!!!!
And if you find a galvanized nail that you're mad at, put it in a glass of Coca-Cola for a few days. It won't be there to make you mad anymore.

That stuff works good, I'd give it a try if you don't have any Coca Cola handy. Would Pepsi work?

And I take it you think I'm joking? I'm not. It works especially well for anything with rust stains, like your clothes, or interior cloth. Just make sure you don't let it sit on there very long.
