Gold Paint for GTA rims...
I'm going to use that aircraft aluminum paint remover to completely strip my rims as disscussed in my previous post on this board but now since I'm doing the entire rim I'm going to need to repaint the center of them gold.
I know Frankie used this stuff in a spray can but I can't remember what exactly it's called. Back when I did remember what it was called I looked for it but I couldn't find it anywhere. If any of you guys remember what it was called exactly and know of a place online where I can buy I'd REALLY appreciate it. I do remeber that it was a black can and it even had a picture of a GTA gold rim on it. I don't want to strip the rims before I have the right color paint. I've already got the stripper, gloves, application brush, and a stripping brush to scub the outside of the rim with. I just need this gold paint and a good spray-on clearcoat.
1 last question, what grit sand paper should I use on the outside of the rim to get that perfect shine?
Thanks.

Your gonna have a hell of a time stripping the center gold, because i believe it is anodized. When i stripped my rims a while back, the gold DID NOT come off... you can just repaint over it with the correct color.... i forger what it is exactly.
I WOULDNT USE SAND PAPER IF I WERE U... JUST STRIP IT, THEN POLISH IT WITH MOTHERS... IM SURE YOU WILL BE IMPRESSED!!!
Good Luck!

I believe the gold paint code is 52P. I also think what Frankie did was to have a body shop mix him the gold paint, based on the GM 52P code, and then the shop simply put the paint inside aerosol cans so that he could spray his wheels properly.
I have never seen any GTA wheel paint in a can.....so Ican;t help you there.
I plan on refinshing my rims similar to how you are, so I will let you know how mine come out. I am still undecided about using any sandpaper on my rims though. I dont think I would bother with the gold section, but i will be sanding down the metal rings. I would imagine they polish similar to the way a plenum or AC compressor polishes in the engine.
