Flaming Chicken for firebirds?

Hey all, I'm pretty new to the firebird world, and was wondering if the flaming chicken decal is only found on the trans am? Can it be found on regular firebirds as well? Thanks for any replies

Are you talking about the big bird on the hood?

Re: Flaming Chicken for firebirds?

yes. probably should have been a little more specific. I know the smaller decal is frequently found on the sides and rear of most firebirds.

Re: Flaming Chicken for firebirds?

As far as I know, they never put the big bird on the hoods of the third gens. The second gens were the only ones to get them and I do believe they were only on the TAs. The closest you'll get for a third gen decal on the hood would be the one from the early third gens that went onto the power bulge and had the lines and the bird at the top. I believe that one was only on the TAs too.

Option code DX1 for the large hood bird was Trans Am only.

He's correct. The hood bird made it's re-appearance as an option for '85 or '86 TA's (leaning toward '86). It was featured in the Firebird brochures. Unlike for 2nd gen cars, it wasn't very popular option. I think it stopped being an option after a few years (but could be wrong).

Re: Flaming Chicken for firebirds?

The last year was already stated a few replies earlier. No guess work required:

Also, 1986 was not the first year.

Okay that makes sense. I seem to recall seeing an 87 near me with the decal. That car also had a digital dash

Re: Flaming Chicken for firebirds?

I have an EPS file of the correct bird. You can take it to a local sign/decal shop and they can use that file to create the decal if you don't want to spend an over the top amount for a sticker...
All of the ones I've found are just too overpriced.
I don't have a file for the turbo hood style bird though.
