HIDs

How do you guys feel about low and high HIDs? What temperature should I get? What should I look out for?I was thinking about getting smoked ones with 6000k bulbs. Suggestions? Reviews?

Re: HIDs

My best suggestion with the influx of retro-crap junk out there is to find a set and post the info. If you are referring to the Spyder Pro-Ops on Amazon/eBay read the reviews there; many say they are junk.

Re: HIDs

Can you help me find these? HIDs-bkdtsvb.jpg
I can't find them anywhere. And they are the only set that looks worth while. I don't want to spend 900 dollars on this. I want to spend under 200 for the HID kit and the housing.

ALL I WANT IS BETTER LIGHT OUTPUT. Why does it have to be cheap crap or expensive crap. How come no middle ground!

Re: HIDs

Those look like the
Spyder Pro Op Spyder Pro Op
I was referring to.

Why cheap or expensive? There has never been a 4x6 projector that has been mass produced. There has been 0 R&D work to make a certified base assembly. Most are constructed using E-Code style lamps; which have limited availability when it comes to quality and are running around 150 per pair (bosch) on the low end. The other option is to use the cheap E-code knock-offs made in third world countries. These generally are not E-Code certified for any purpose. Doesn't matter, as the next step is to rip the backend off and toss a projector assembly in there. There is little that seperates the Spyder from some of the projects that people have fabbed here on their own.

There is a middle ground. It's called Sylvania Siverstar
Too many people think you need to pop in HID's to get even and acceptable amount of light. Simply put, if you dont retrofit cutoff projectors, please dont use HID's.

Re: HIDs

With a $200 budget, you could go with Bosch H4s for the low beams and call it a day at ~150

Re: HIDs

Dont even need to spend that much.E-code are euro spec, not US DOT.
H4 is dual beam, not what camaros use!You can do projector retrofit for less than $200.So you there is a middle ground.Heres what i spent originally.
OE (valeo) projectors/ebay, $40
DDM kit $30
Fake ebay "projectors" $24
Misc $25

Re: HIDs

The guy who used to sell those OE valeo's on ebay vanished, or at least his d2s low beam projectors did...

Re: HIDs

I'm under $200 in my retro's, probably got the D2S projectors from the same guy on eBay as most everyone else that's done them. I didn't do anything fancy like halos or anything like that, just a low beam projector with a nice chrome shroud from TRS.
