What's the most creative mod you've done to your car?
Just wondering what kind of unique mods you guys have done. Appearance or performance related, just post up a pic if you've done something creative or unique.

I have to say my exhaust cut out. It has a wireless remote, therefore I can step out side of the car and press the button and it becomes open header. Most people think it is the coolest thing they have ever seen. Especially when they don't know much about cars.

Probably my functional Z28 hood blisters. Followed a walk threw on here on them. It's cool on a cold night to see the heat waves come from the openings.
That or my aerocatch hood pins.

I'd love to see your pics of your blisters. This has always been one of the things I wanted to do to my hood. Kinda been waiting for something to happen to the paint on mine to "need: to do it

What brand cutout is that? And how do you like it? Anything bad about it?

Thanks, I cannot wait to get them mounted on the car with my new wheels. I was going to have that done this past weekend but ran into some other more pressing issues.

Is the temperature in the rearview mirror functional? If so, I think that is pretty trick! How hard was it to install? And where did you put the temp sensor?

I'd have to say my air ride. When I pull into a show, I have the air about maxed out (donked). People look like this when I drop it to the ground:

I reversed the hood hinges on my camaro so it's hinged at the front like a Corvette.
BlueZ - How hard was it to put the camaro script on your calipers? I have a pair of c4 calipers waiting to go on my camaro that I was planning to powdercoat anyhow and I would love to do that.

Re: What's the most creative mod you've done to your car?
For those wondering about the Cutout,
I'm not sure on the exact brand, I bought it used. GSP has one that looks identical, however the remote is slightly different. It works great. I have no problems with it. The remote is small and has a key ring on it, so it allows you to not worry about drilling/mounting a switch. I simply clipped it to my headlight switch.
Here is the link to the GSP Cutout. The one in the link is 3". Mine is 2.5".

Re: What's the most creative mod you've done to your car?
I did some work to my spoiler mounted brake light and installed 3 rows of LED strips behind the lens. Hardest part was removing the back side of the light housing. They're mounted in there with lots of clear silicone...
Since I swapped the motor for a 383, RS really doesn't fit any more. I had these polished stainless emblems made for the bumper and GFX. I still need to find something to do with the nose emblem, it's still original. Excuse the dirt in the pic...

I forgot to add above that I've shaved the door handles. I've also mounted the keyless entry touchpad from an explorer behind my license plate. I can pop the trunk with it or open the driver's door in case the battery in the door popper remote dies.

Here's a link to my build thread:

It won't let my post the same pics twice. I also have a video on YouTube showing how it opens and closes. Search my TGO username on there and you'll find it.

Re: What's the most creative mod you've done to your car?
Reinforced my rotted cowl with carbon fibre (details in a fabrication thread). Why? Because I could....
In the next year I am thinking:
CF filler panel (between nose and rad support)
CF STB
CF Fan Shroud (top half)
CF T-Tops
Because I can (hopefully)....

Re: What's the most creative mod you've done to your car?
You sir have confused me with a Honda guy.... In all fairness the cowl is technically a wrap though, but it has a functional purpose as well.
The plans are (in likely order of execution, next part depends on the success of the previous):
The fan shroud will likely be CF bonded to a modified (simplified) shroud (wrapping), this is super easy. May vacuum bag, may not. Totally cosmetic.
The STB, metal ends for mounting on a home made CF tube. Plan is to use the foam core method DIY bike builders use, acetone after cure to remove the foam core. All CF for strength with fibreglass between the metal and CF to prevent galvanic corrosion. Likely will compression tape this one instead of VB.
Attached is the inspiration, mine will be a simpler shape.
Filler panel made from scratch with CF top and bottom and a fibreglass core to save cost. MDF mold of the shape I want. Trim to fit after cure. This will be VB. Will not be the same shape as the factory filler.
Door panels fibreglass, Kevlar, and CF in a more or less flat panel design with leather trim added later.
T-Tops (this will likely only happen if all the above works since I think this is the hardest). Seperate the glass and use it as a form. Mold relase the top of the glass, multiple layers of CF on top of that, then a fibreglass cloth core (save money and to build thickness...), then CF on top and VB. Release from the glass and trim to size. This should result in a CF panel the same size as the t-top glass with a slightly shallower arc. CF top and bottom fibreglass in the middle.
Right now I am waiting for warmer weather so I can make some experimental test parts (have to work on this stuff outside) to figure out how many layers etc. Have the VB equipment almost all lined up.

6x9s fit under the sail panels. Why would you mount them like that?

I had to recover all the panels including headliner so I did them in black vinyl to match the black vinyl door skins I found .With vinyl that's the only way I could do it. Besides that's a large heavy speaker and one that would not fit under a sail panel if I wanted it to. The magnet is so large and deep it barely fit even the way they are. I listen to mostly classic rock and with the head unit adjusted properly between the 5 1/2 fronts and those 6x9s it sounds amazing especially if your sitting in the back. The camera/flash really does not do them any justice ,they look a lot better in a darker environment.(limo tint)
6x9s fit under the sail panels. Why would you mount them like that?[/quote]

Re: What's the most creative mod you've done to your car?
Ttop350....why do you have a MSD in your battery ??? And how ???
92rs-ttop ...you said something about using ford explore number pad...to open your doors...I went and looked at your thread about your flipped hood ( nice job ) and didn't see anything about the number pad...
