Re: Macco?
I really don't have the patience for filler and that stuff... I've already tried it. I know exactly what it needs but can't really do the work (the quarter on the other car was easy up until the welding was necessary... no power means no welder ). My choices are either Maaco or see if my neighbor can put me in touch with the guy he knows from the local vocational school. Either way, I have 3 coats of paint (the metallic red on top of silver, on top of bright red, on top of the factory clear and gunmetal) that needs to go with a coat of filler somewhere in the mix, and some small pinholes and rust pits to fill.

Re: Macco?
Do all my bodywork prep and paint. I also got their most expensive
Paint with several coats of clear, so it will look great for a long time
You are not gonna get a paint job from anyone under a grand if
Your expecting them to remove 3 layers of old paint plus bodywork.
I'd say you are gonna be in the $2500 range easy.

Bodyshops use. The reason they are cheaper is the volume of cars they do. While a single stage paint will be considerably cheaper,
You will be constantly buffing and waxing it to keep it shiny + it's really
hard to make a single stage paint look as good as a bc/cc paint if you don't stay
On top of it.

I got the most high quality job they had. like it was said previously on this thread, you wont find a good lasting job for under 1k. trust me i looked around XD. I hear allot it kind of matters where you go, some places do good jobs but then some dont, so just do some raserch before . Here are some pics of my car,

I would disagree with you. They use the same paints / clears that the other

Single stage urethane requires no more upkeep than Clear coat. here's the stripes I painted with single stage over the top of my clear. they still are just as shiny, two years later.

Re: Macco?
you're confusing a single stage paint like Lacquer or enamel with a Urethane paint that does not require a clear, called single stage urethane.

Re: Macco?
Thanks! I will say you could very well be right... I'm not even sure MAACO offers single stage urethane. they may be enamel only, but it would shock me if they didn't, because of the drying /baking times involved with enamel.
