What's the difference between powdercoating and painting?
I noticed some suspension parts come with powdercoating. What advantages does powdercoating have over regular paint?
When it comes to painting sway bars, A Arms, etc. is there a reason to avoid using regular spray can paint?
Does powdercoating offer benefits that apply to reduced squeaking?
Just wondering...

Simple answer:
Powder coating has better adhesion to the base material and resists chipping better than most paints. Powder coating resist chipping, comes in a large variety of colors and produces a good finish.
The only thing that out performs powder coatings in resisting chips is chassis paint like Por-15, Eastwood's Chassis Black, ect. With those you are limited in colors. I've used the Eastwood products both the Rust Encapsulation and Chassis Black on my T/A's k-member, A-arms, tie rods, idler arm, center link, sway bar and pitman arm.
To reduce squeaking you need the right bushings and the correct lubricant. Some manufactures of LCA's, panhard bars and other suspension products offer bushings that have grease fittings to reduce squeaks.

chassis paint and por15 are NOT more chip resistant than powdercoating. That said, all of the powdercoated parts I have ever gotten from the US are all junk coated, very thin. Coated over bare fabricated stuff, milling scale under the coating. I always have it recoated. My coater only uses outdoor quality coating, he lasts the parts for a nice rough texture then powdercoats a base primer and coats the finishing color over it. It is very scratch resistant, you need a flapper disc to get it off.

Just like with any surface treatment product it all depends on the prep work prior to the treatment. I've recently bought a powder coat gun and powder from Eastwood but I haven't really done any coating yet.

Simplest answer is powdercoating is BAKED on at around 450 degrees after being electrically charged and applied to the part. If done right, it is ON THERE.
