picked up my car lastnight!!!
i appoligise if this is in the wrong section, wasnt to sure where to put it.
so yeah, i picked up my 1987 sc lastnight! and im not gonna lie, 3 days leading up to me taking possesion i was scared shitless that i may have bought a rust bucket on the underside. i bought it from my wifes friends husband and took his word that it wasnt a piece.
so we showed up, fired it up, let it warm up a bit and drove it onto the trailer. with my handy flashlight i proceded to check for rust and rot sence it was very easy to see under it now. suprise!!! other than a very small little bit of rot on the bottom of the rear quarter just behind the wheel and some mild surface rust here and there, completly rot free!!!
considering i picked this car up for 800 bucks i think i got a gem in the rough. and consider myself very lucky.
another 3rd gen saved boys and girls!!

Re: picked up my car lastnight!!!
Great deal man! Get a couple more pictures on the condition.... hows the interior? Going to leave the bertinetta(i think) front end?
Not the biggest fan of the future color combo. Id remove the black hood strips and maybe do the head lightbuckets and edge surrounding the bottom of the body but then again its not my car!

Re: picked up my car lastnight!!!
Thanks.
I will upload what pics I have tomorrow when I have access to my PC.
The interior definitely shows its age as the carpet is thrashed and the seats have small rips along with the armrest pad has split. I also found out the RPO tag in the armrest says the car is a 84 Berlinetta..apparently its not the factory console lol
The front end as far as I know is correct for the car and is actually the 'sport coupe' not berlinetta, even tho I don't really notice a difference in the two. Either way I would like to swap out for the iroc look. Car looks 10X better with gfx.
And the paint, I've decided that there will be no red stripes on the hood, just solid black. Other than that it will remain the same. I know its a bit flashy but I like it. It will turn heads regardless.
Next weekend I'm hoping to go back to my dads where the car is (2hr drive) and get the car up on stands and start the complete disassembly process in prep for a full media blast.
Gonna have to start a build thread!

Yeah I've got a couple. Still plenty of things need to be done but I'm making progress.
Here's when I picked her up

Yeah the hood is possibly temporary until I can afford an SS hood. I'd like to swap the bumper and add gfx from a 91-92 Z28 eventually. I wish mine had t-tops but the hard top is growing on me.

All my other Third Gens have been t-top cars. It was kind of nice when it rained the other day to not have wet seats though.

So my wife decided she is gonna buy me 350 4 bolt main long block crate engine for my birthday!! Yay me, Don't hate. its rated at "350hp/315flbs". Anybody have any educated opinions on what intake manifold, carb and headers I should be looking into to maximize my HP and tq output?

I personally would not buy a crate over eBay. Check out ATK performance. Go somewhere with a good reputation but that's me.

Re: picked up my car lastnight!!!
Under normal circumstances I too would stay away from eBay engines. However, I recently found out that through this seller my brother bought this exact same engine for his 85 iroc. (2 years ago) His best friend also bought a motor for his fox body. Both engines are still strong. And both owners beat the **** out of them. And honestly for 2500 in my driveway. Its a steal! Ya couldn't build it for that.

I still would like to know what intake, carb and headers I should b looking into. Based on the motor in the link. Sorry if I seem "noobish" I kinda am. I come from a world of high revving sewing machines.. carbed v8's are very new to me

Right click on your pics from that site your putting the links too, and select copy image, then right click in the text here on TGO and select paste. This will paste a full size image into your thread here and might cut down on the jokes about no pics for the past year

Re: picked up my car lastnight!!!
Hey thanks badnblk.
I have lots of pics that I have taken over the past year but they are a bitch to post. I do 99% of my posts on TGO from my mobile. Having said that, I have no right click to copy image option.
I'll try to find time to get on the PC when I get home and upload a bunch.
