Painted TPI...Tell me what you think!
Hey guys...I started my cam swap and picked up some 1.6 pro mag rockers so i got the GTA out of commision right now. since im pulling her apart I figured she deserved some TLC so I decided to take down all the TPI stuff. Im a sucker for pontiac blue. so the block will be blue. all accessories will be matched acordingly either black and blue or black. painting and lining the fuel rails tomorrow ill have more pics then but this is what I have thus far. let me know what you think.

Cant tell how much I like them with pictures so small. If the blue matches the car or bay I would assume it'd look pretty nice. If not then I would imagine it'd look kinda silly.

The blue is a bit stark, but I like the black.
And when you said painted TPI I imagined I was going to see a painted tuned port injector. Not painted valve covers...

Cool idea but it's looking too... "stripey"!
with this kind of theme (Pontiac motor) I'd try to keep it more true to how they originally looked back then instead of trying to make it look a bit fancy. So... I would paint the valve covers all blue and then do the whole intake in something like a low glass black... JMO.

The car is black.. the intake and runners are gunna be black as well. they came out a little lighter than i thought they would be I still like em. Im gunna clear over them tomorrow and finish the fuel rails. wanted to pick up some braided hoses also. thats about it as far as what i want under the hood. I feel the pics dont do them justice. they seem a bit darker in person.

Re: Painted TPI...Tell me what you think!
i like how u did it i just dont like that color blue
here is what i did on my twin turbo iroc
im prolly going to strip the runners and polish them, and then polish the lines on the tpi plenum and leave the blue
i used krylon metal coat paint it has a metalic silver base coat and then they make the top tranclucent coats to go over it in all different colors. in the sun it has alot of nice sparkles in it.
the runners are done in only the base metalic coat and they also have that nice metalic sparkle
heres a 76mm turbo i did with it too u can sorta se ehow glossy this stuff comes out

I like the stripes. But what is important is if you like them.

Re: Painted TPI...Tell me what you think!
@Project89: I almost used the same thing. had them both in my hands just decided it would probably be better if they matched the block. but those are definitely sharp.
@richboll: I do. they look great imo.
cant wait to put them on....might be a month or so before its all together :/ (accumulating piece by piece) just cause im trying to get my hands on a sdpc vortec intake and slp runner... picking up the vortec heads this upcoming weekend hopefully for my 1.6 rockers and valve springs

SR71BLKBRD, That looks sharp. You did an excellent job taping things off so they look great. I like it.
Project89, I have that same Krylon paint on a shelf in my workshop/garage. I wonder if it will hold up to the heat of turbos though. It looks great 4 yrs later on the Holley carb on my Olds 350 powered boat.

I think it would look better if it was actually Pontiac blue.

I think it looks good. What color is the car? The fender looks about the same color.
