1 step paint?

Hello everyone! I have a quick question, my buddy wants to paint my car and he said that he wants to use 1 step paint because the fact that clear becomes a problem down the road. Well i really have not a clue when it comes to paint and wanted some insight from the paint crew about 1 step paint. Any info. would be much appreciated, thanx Jim

I don't know about paint myself, but a friend of my neighbor painted my power blisters and rear spoiler with 1 step paint (paint and clearcoat all in one) and it looks great. The color matches and it only cost me $20! Hope this helps.

1 step paint is generally just Acrylic Enamel. It is cheaper to buy than base/clear and is a little more forgiving for whoever sprays it. A friend of mine used 1 step acrylic and then coated it again with 2 coats of clear and it looks pretty damn good.

Urethane 2-stage paints are about the easiest spraying paints out there. They flow a lot better than acrylic enamel paints, and they are SUBSTANTIALLY more durable. If your buddy is having problems with 2-stage paints, then he's using some amazingly cheap stuff, or he's not doing something right.
