Re: Slammed Third Gens - Post Pics
Well, I've been debating between getting bigger gears in the rearend on my 91 RS 5.0 or lowering it. If I do lower it, it seems like it would be impractical because if I remember correctly it sits at 26 1/2 in the back and an inch lower in the front so if I get the 2 inch drop or even a 1 inch it seems like it would be way to low. Unless the current suspension is sagging and it is going to just stay where it sits when I put the new shocks and springs on. Any opinions would be appriciated, thanks.

By the way I live in central Connecticut, the roads are hilly, bumpy, potholes everywhere, they generally suck so...to low can be bad in my case.

Im in your boat and am hoping the drop isnt to much when i do my car. It is nearly impossible to get accurate info on how much of a drop will work. Ive seen claims of drops that some say make the car undriveable where as other say the same drop works perfect w/o clearance or travel issues. There are just so many variables like spring stiffness, car weight, drop method, tire size, etc. I live in michigan so the roads suck pretty bad here as well.

Re: Slammed Third Gens - Post Pics
If your car sits at 25 1/2" front and 26 1/2" rear it sagged quite a bit. Is that still the stock springs and shocks?
I had the same issue and fitting a stock replacement set of springs and KONI shocks reverted the car back to stock height which is 27 1/2" front and 28 1/2" rear. That´s a full 2" difference.
If you get by fine now, you shouldn´t see any difference fitting a 2" lowered or 1 1/2" lowered set of springs and new shocks. You will most certainly feel the difference though.

im not gonna sit here and hear a bunch of BS from this so please people dont start.... that being said.
i was stationed in Michigan for 2 years and had my camaro on the road and honestly i cut my springs, i know its not the most practical way, but when i was said and done i cut a coil and a half off and rode around Grand Haven, Grand Rapids, area daily and a few trips over towards detroit, the normal driving was fine, a few times id scrap on large bumps or divets, and almost EVERY speed bump or entrance/exit ramp id have to take at a sharp angle. here are a few pics how i sit on 245/60 r16s
Heres a couple before the springs were cut
and heres a few after just to get an idea, i spent abuot a week finding the right spot. i would cut about a 1/4 of a coil on all 4 corners till i found a spot i liked in height and was still comfortable. being back in MD now i plan on taking another half coil off and running a small tire prolly a 55 series.
Getting it on my tow dolly to drag back to MD

Well given the fact that I wrote "not really slammed" obviously I had the title in mind... take a look though the 6 pages because I am not the only one who posted a lowered ride like mine relax a little bit man.

Re: Slammed Third Gens - Post Pics
just a quick question i've read a lot of this thread but didnt really get my answer i've cut springs ive bagged truck im not stranger to suspension but i've heard a lot about a panhard bar and LCA relocation brackets, if i cut a coil off or 3/4 of a coil maybe off could i put my car back together without the use of the preferred aftermarket parts, so basically for free can you slam a Camaro lol

Sure, but your axle won't be centered in the car. And you're instant center will be wayyy off.

That means 90% of the cars posted should be deleted lol. Everyone has a different meaning of the word "slammed " I lowered mine 2" all around. That's is low as I wanted to go. Specially with the roads in Michigan haha!!

Yes, yes it does.
Everyone may have a different definition for slammed but I'd say it'd be pretty universal to say your car is not it. However beautiful it is, it isn't slammed. Not that mine is, either.

Re: Slammed Third Gens - Post Pics
The problem with being that low ItsMikey is the very rough ride and you bounce around like an import. Also you can't even clear speed bumps, you scrape the front nose and bang the exhaust.

Re: Slammed Third Gens - Post Pics
ride isnt bouncy at all..its rough yeah but thats due to the stiff springs, has nothing to do with being low. speed bumps can be avoided easy and scraping the front doesnt bother me neither does hitting the exhaust..

Re: Slammed Third Gens - Post Pics
I really shouldn't even be posting this here, my car isn't very good looking. And I am kind of disapointed in how low the Intrax springs are, I wanted lower. I even cut 2.25 coils from the rear.
Here it is, It was a bad day to take pictures, I am no photog, car is ugly and dirty. But here you go.

I still have the stock ones.
It handles really well how it sits. I might pop the spring isolators out of the rear, should put me where I want it. And I need spacers.

yea that should drop it atleast another inch.
what size spacer i played around with 1.25 spacers and didint look that good rears stick out a tad bit to much and fronts sit flush to fender what size are your tires putting 255 should fill out the fender abit also maybe go to a 55 series tire idk how the front fitment would be tho

Re: Slammed Third Gens - Post Pics
I flipped mine, the big lip "fronts" are in the rear, and the small lip "rears" are in the front now.
I have that factory little spacer still in the rear. But I had to get a 3/8" spacer for the front so that the old rears would fit up there. I am thinking close to 2" spacers in the front. I hate how they are sunk in. I havn't measure anything yet though.
I have 245-50-16's on it now. In all honesty. I am not liking the GTA wheels anymore. I kind of want to go with 17's atleast.

Damn, that sucks. is UPS going to make it right?
I am not artsy at all. These shots were spur of the moment. Just a crappy P&S Camera.
And ya, I just want the fronts to sit flush atleast. The rear I like.
