Paint Color options...for Red interior

I'm looking to get my camaro painted. It still has the factory paint (so it's faded and beat to hell from 20+ years in the new mexico desert/sun). The interior is what GM called Red..

Now of course there are black accents in the interior (dash, console trim, currently black seat covers), but carpet and headliner, etc... is all red.

The exterior is I guess what GM called Flame Red Poly...I call it a maroon, or burgundy, or whatever...but I'm not sure I want to return just to factory color...I think I want something that has a little more "pop"!

I know and realize the extra expense of painting the door jambs and such if you do a PROPER color change, so the cost factor aside, what color options does anyone thing will look good, or compliment the interior, without having to completely re-do the interior color scheme?

Strictly speaking of colors, I'm a huge fan of the new "burnt orange" available on the 2010 Camaros, as well as the "metallic green" or whatever they call it that was also available, special edition only I think, on the new gen of camaros. However, I don't know how well either would work with the red interior....thoughts anyone?

White with red interior, Black with red interior, Gunmetal Gray with red interior are good choices. If you go with the burnt orange or green the red interior will totally clash. Tan, gray or black interior would be good choices for the green and tan or black would be good with the orange. Not to sure about gray with orange.

+1 to gunmetal. Looks great with red. Black.. Sometimes yellow, but it depends (and usually, it's not). White. Gray.

If it were me, I'd go with black with a slight red flake to it (NOT a lot of flake.. this isn't a fishing boat, it's a car).

Re: Paint Color options...for Red interior

Yeah,

I know the red clashes with both the burnt orange and the green...just saying I like those colors on the exterio.

I've looked into it, and back in '89 there was a gray color option with the red interior...I'm hoping maybe a metalic version of the gunmetal gray will look nice...Any other colors, other than what was "factory" in '89? I had a '92 that was "bright red" exterior...so I know that works too...just wondered if anyone had other color combinations that might work well.

Thanks for the input!

Re: Paint Color options...for Red interior

There are many silver to gray color codes that will look awesome with red interior. I like viper steel gray metallic, and the new GM cyber gray found on vettes.

my car is black with red interior and red accents. It works together well.

Greens go well with tan and black. orange goes well with tan and black as well.

+1 For the gunmetal gray. However the original Burgundy may look really good when its not beat all to hell and faded.

Re: Paint Color options...for Red interior

Yeah, it's been a toss up if I want to keep it the burgundy...though I did just look at the new factory options (for the Gen 5 camaro's ), and GM has a color they call "Red Jewel Tint", that might be a good match to the burgandy....though I am leaning towards something metallic...

I also like racing stripes...only with the "original" color, what color strips look best...I've seen both silver and black, and I just saw a post somewhere else about the new "cyber grey" as a color option on the stripes too...

Re: Paint Color options...for Red interior

Ok....so I'm definitely liking the Cyber Gray...with that in mind, what color stripes does anyone think , or prefer, looks best?

Or still same question with Red Jewel Tint (or Burgundy, however you want to call it)?

Re: Paint Color options...for Red interior

A red interior goes best with:

Black, white, silvers and grays.

A red on red works ONLY if the shades of red match. A maroon car with a red interior or vice versa clashes.

Re: Paint Color options...for Red interior

I agree with many of the other posters, black or the Gun Metal gray would look really good with the red interior.

Interior/Outside is kind of like the relationship with your clothes.. If you're wearing a loud shirt, it's usually best to do the opposite with your pants... and vice versa. People are attracted to contrast.
