duplicolor rim paint
So I picked upsome flat black rim paint and I was wondering if anybody on here has used it. I'm spraying my rally rims off of my sport coupe. Any tips or tricks to make this look really good?

Re: duplicolor rim paint
I have used it on the black steel wheels on my crown victoria. Just like anything else with painting, prep is they key. Scuff them up well and wipe them down with some acetone, then apply the paint. Use the duplicolor rim clearcoat for a protective layer, but if flat is your preference, then leave it be as most paint brands do not like to be mixed with other brands... Might leave you less than satisfied...

Re: duplicolor rim paint
I used some Black Duplicolor Wheel Paint on my old Daily Drivers Aluminum wheels. Turned out great, and went through the Winter without peeling, Chipping etc....Too bad the Trans died Lol.
Just make sure like any [paint work, you prep and clean wheels well first.

Prep surface really well make sure every square inch is sanded or scuffed. If you dont the pain will start to peal off those spots first and eventually all over. Once sanded and scuffed make sure you degrease and clean.
I used the bronze wheel paint years ago, worked great. I made sure my prep work was top notch and the paint job lasted for years. Until I changed the color again.

Sometimes Nathan the wheels are worth less than the actual cost of powder coating. That would make it a very poor economic decision. In my case, the wheels were an old set of 6 spoke 17" wheels on my old 240 that cost me 500 with tires when I bought them. Powder coating was 75$ per wheel, plus the cost of dismounting/mounting and referencing at them time.

why not powdercoat
find somebody to do it for you..

Re: duplicolor rim paint
Alright thanks guys. I didn't have enough money to buy the clearcoat at the time so it looks like I'm sticking with fly black. Shouldn't look too bad considering I'm keeping the aluminum beauty rings the same color. Anybody know someone who has a camaro centercap for one of these rims?

Re: duplicolor rim paint
i painted these with flat black duplicolor paint. I taped over the silver part and just sprayed it then put a clear coat on. I liked the result.
