Re: What makes your F-Body Shine?
a woolpad and some cutting compound, then you will need a glaze to fill the swirls

I also wouldn't use a wool pad, you can do a lot of correction with foam pads. Wool is pretty harsh.

Re: What makes your F-Body Shine?
i agree the pad is harsh but it is the old school way we have done for years, a wool pad used by a pro can really cut down on buffing time. I use more hex pads than ever now, but if I get a really faded car I take out the wool.

Re: What makes your F-Body Shine?
Is rubbing compound, a buffer, then a nice caranuba wax a good choice to bring some shine back to my 84. It sat with 3/4 of the car in a car port. The back end exposed in the sun about 3 feet so every thing from the doors back not including the doors took it a little worse. nothing big just some dull fading.

Re: What makes your F-Body Shine?
I've very recently been getting into the detailing end of things. Now that I finally have a house with a paved driveway. Before, wax was just something I put on so the immediate cloud of dust that would hit my car would wash off easier.
I just hand washed my 2010 silverado for the first time in awhile (usually do the drive-thru wash), I had about a million tiny rust spots on top of the paint. Turns out it's metal particulates from the brakes or who knows what getting embedded in the clear, then rusting over time.
I gave it a thorough scrub with castle car wash (strong dilution) and terry towel, power washed clean, dried, used a mother's clay bar with Showtime spray detailer as a lubricant, then wiped it down with microfiber. Holy Crap! My truck is white, and it always looks kind of clean even when it's not, but it seriously looks better than new. Now I just need to give her a wax in the morning. I'm unsure as to what I should use, I need to dig through the garage shelves to see what I have, but I'm tempted to go get a high end wax to seal up the job. I'll probably lay it down and take it off with a cheap orbital buffer.

I use the blood of my enemies mixed with some Armour All wash'n wax. Then I wax with Meguires Quick Wax Spray Formula.

Re: What makes your F-Body Shine?
For dull or heavily scratched paint, I like to use Meguires Medium Cut cleaner, followed by Meguires Fine Cut cleaner. For wax I like the NXT TechWax.
I hate wool pads, I cannot use them without creating more scratches. Personally, I like the 4" foam pads that go on a high speed drill, much easier to work with and they can go into tighter areas. Most rotarys are just too darn big and bulky to me.

Re: What makes your F-Body Shine?
Not quite that harsh. You can find it at O'Reillys, it's next to the buffer pads.

Re: What makes your F-Body Shine?
I just tried Chemical Guys new Lava Wax, it is amazing the depth it leaves in black, this trucks is an 04 and sits out in the FL sun 24/7/365. I used a clay bar and Chemical Guys V-38 polish with a orange pad, them the Lava wax with a red pad and not a swirl in sight.
