I used to have purple neon on my 92 RS (Hawiian Orchid). I could never get it to work all the time cause I didnt wire it correctly (needed a better ground, and Neon specific patch wire), but when it did work, it looked freakin sweet. Dont just get the front and rear lights, get the sides too, it really makes a difference. I wish I had some pics, but I dont. I'll sell you my set of cheap if you want it. You will need to get some special wire from a shop that installs neon (it has very think insulation so the 9000 volts dont arc through to the frame). Let me know.

Well i was thinking about getting the Neon lights from AUTOZONE, some guys bought it and they loved it, besides the price for it is $18.99 its about 2 feet long and it works by plugging it to the cigarette lighter, and yes the wires reach that long

If i were you i wouldnt buy neons from autozone. They arent as bright and the lights just arent long enough. Mine are from www.streetglow.com. 2 4ft. long tubes for the sides and 2 3ft. long tubes for the front and back. I bought my set about 3 years ago for about $200 (im sure they arent so expensive now), but the quality is the best. Before i had them on my iroc, i had them on my 91 RS. They have been well worth the money.

I'm pretty sure if you read the whole box, those lights are for interior only. I believe I saw the same ones and was
going to buy them then saw for interior only.

Thats a lot of volts there... i don't think the wires were the problem... Might want to look into that.

9000 volts is required to light the gas in the tubes. Check this site out: http://www.streetglow.com/site/auto.htm

"....a powerful 9500V transformer...."

This isnt the system I have, but I'm just showing you that 9000 volts is necessary. The amperage is very low, but it'll still get ya!

I helped my buddy put them on his 86 Bird, then helped him swap them over to his 89 TA. I personally think they look great, tho we kinda give him **** for havin a little rice in him. But still ... I'd put them on if they made my car any faster ... lol.

Just out of curiosity, which color tubes do you think would look best under a RED Formula???

Green mos def. Blue is too dark not that noticable. Purple, yeah its gay, but it looks like black light, and they aint gay. Red usually looks like pink, which is worse then purple. But I would most definitely go with green. Looks like chirstmas??? I think it gives a Green Hornet type look, very nice.

A friend of mine had purple neons under his red '86 IROC back in the early 90s. It also had purple and lavender pinstriping. Actually while a color combo I would never have thought would look good, in reality it looked great. I don't think anyone would have ever thought it looked gay once they saw it in person.

Well, here is the best pic I have of the neons on my car. Yep, they are purple, so I guess my car is gay now.

They look blue in the pic for some reason, but, they are quite purple, I also have one purple tube above the passenger side footwell. Im planning on going two tone (Blue and Purple) later on down the road.

Wow. They actually all actually look good. I was wondering how a 3rdgen would look with neons. I might look into it now, maybe a little more suttle, a.k.a., putting neons in the front grill, leds or neons in my sub box, which would shine through the hatch, etc. etc.

Hard to capture it on film, I've had blue neon on my blue 88 'bird for a couple years now.
Gets a lot of compliments. Streetglow I recommend as well.

I think I'm going to put purple under my GTA after it's black, whaddya think?

i'm planning a neon installation... only for my front set, i was thinking about installing them behind the RS grill on my car, so it glows throughs. i was contemplating a new grill, and fog lights, but this would be cheaper, and i think it would look really cool. no cars around here have neons, and i'd love to have that unique feeling for my car while driving down the road
