Show Those Stripes!
About to get a 1 stage paintjob (basically only thing I can afford sadly) but looking to see what stripes would look like. I had an idea for dual gold/yellow stripes but about 3/4th down the hood and rounded.. car is black camaro with 3.5" harwood steel cowl hood
just wanted an idea of stripes on the cars, post pictures!

Re: Show Those Stripes!
Went old school 1st gen on mine;
starts on the front edge of the hood, ends about 2" before the back edge of the hood with rounded corners, and has a 1/4" pinstripe around the edges. Same way on the back decklid, starts at the back edge and ends 2" from the glass. I don't like the way cars look with stripes "touching the ground" at the front and rear, and going over the roof. I also thought about doing '69 style hockey stripes, but I wouldn't mix them with Rally stripes.

Re: Show Those Stripes!
Nice job, mine was a rattle can Dupli Color job because I got tired of looking at the black primer slowly turn to gray. It's by no means a "final" paintjob, just something to protect the sheetmetal until I pick a final color and strip it down to do it right. I tried originally to do stripes like yours down the front of the upper part of the nose, but ultimately decided to base mine on the '67-'68 Camaro style. Still think '69 style hockey stripes with my "327" emblems in them would look sweet tho!

Re: Show Those Stripes!
If you're asking about mine, it's because I have 91-92 Z/28 front springs and Monroe Sensatrac front struts, and '95 Z/28 springs with Gabriel Hi Jacker air shocks pumped up to 120 lbs in the back. The original '83 Z/28 springs were intended for the weight of a 305 with a 4BBL carb setup, not a 350 with a TPI.

Very nice, I like the look of the 2", more classic. The 4" is too big IMO, unless you actually need it for the clearance.

Re: Show Those Stripes!
Yeah Chimaera I was talking about yours. LOL Soooo, I don't think there is that much weight difference between a 305 4 bbl and a 350 TPI but that's cool....At least you don't have to worry about any ground clearance issues! Did you put those springs in just cuz or is there a purpose for it? I guess you could get some good sizr slicks in on the back but still......

Re: Show Those Stripes!
Had issues with my '95 rear scrubbing the driveshaft against the parking brake cables, and the '83 front end has been pretty abused long before I bought the car. It's been a long fight to upgrade the car and cure a lot of the deficiencies. The front suspension got completely overhauled, and the old '83 springs were worn badly. As for the springs, there is a significant spring rate diff between the '83 H.O. Z/28 ones and the 91-92, plus I think I got the convertible ones. I wanted stiff springs with plenty of weight loading potential. I was also thinking of doing a 454 at the time, so it made sense. Not to mention it has made scraping a thing of the past (good thing with the roads here) and makes it much easier to work under it.

Re: Show Those Stripes!
yeah no doubt working under it would be a breeze. Ya know, I looked at it and laughed at first and thought what the heck is this guy thinkin.....but now my red neck is kickin in and I'm thinkin how I could maybe put a small transfer case in there from a subaru brat and make it AWD! YEAH BABY! I always said I would follow a 4x4 anywhere....as long as they would pull me out. But with AWD, well, it might be a different story. Naw, that would be too much work, but would be fun. How does it ride?

Re: Show Those Stripes!
It's not as high as it looks in the pic, that's mostly optical illusion. It is higher than most have theirs, and definitely beats the ground scraping low rider setup it originally had, with a lot better handling and less bone jarring of a ride. But lets get back to topic.
