Will Pumpkin hurt paint?

Well, I can beack to my car from a friend's house and found a pumpkin had been smached on my car. Luckly it had hit on the back of the spoiler, so it acted as a blade and cut it in half instead of doing a lot of damage. Half the pumpkin hit the tail light center and put enough force on it to crack the paint off the inside, but not crack the plastic. The other half smashed into the hatch window and flew over the top of the car. So, my question is. Does pumpkin hurt paint? I found it a 3 in the morning, it had probly only been there 2-3 hours, and I washed it about noon the next day. So the pupmkin juice was only on there about 10 hours at the most. I don't think it's ver acidic, but I just wanted to make sure. I'm just glad they didn't think to try smashing it on the hood, or that it didn't break the glass since by the time I got to it, the pumpkin **** was frozen to my car. I'm glad this happened the first freeze of the year. NOPE!!

Well clean it off...get a good cleaner wax...wax it...check out how your paint looks...and you tell us if it messed up your paint...

I don't think most people here have tried breaking pumpkins on their car....

My guess would be that if the car had some wax on it the only damage would be scratches in the paint not actual damage to it.

Pumpkins don't have a lot of acid in them. No citric since they're nto Citrus fruit. SO I wouldn't worry. just wash it off good and you should be fine.

Well, after washing it I havn't noticed any damage to the paint. I didn't look for any scratches though. My car has been keyed a few times, so I'm not too worried about the little ones made by a pumpkin. Anyway, there aren't any dents. The only problem is that that stuff was stuck on there pretty good. I didn't see anything wrong with it. What I'm hoping is that the pumpking will give it a nice shine. I doubt that will happen though. I am betting it was kids though. They would have been licking the pumpkin off my car after that one. Can't resort to violence. After turning 18, your options are pretty much limited as for revenge. Thanks for the replies though. I'll let you guys know if it actualy does anything. I was too buisy fixing the tail center that was damaged. A little black gloss paint never hurts anything.

My car was hit by several eggs a few years ago..about 3 weeks before halloween(stupid kids could at least get the date right!) and they didn't mess up my paint except for the scratches..although it was raining that night so that might have helped..and the sun didnt get a chance to bake it in since I was washing it off at 8am the next day .. A few days ago some kid stole one of my chrome caps so now he has a chrome cap for the valve stem of his bike but at least that one didnt cause any damage.. I put loctite on them now so he wont be stealing anymore of those hehe

I got my new cowl hood painted and on my first night out in the car, it was egged. The actual egg didn't really do anything as far as being acidic or disolving the paint. The egg did put a nasty group of scratches in the hood though. I was pissed needless to say.

Hell we all must have done things like this when we were kids. I remember a long ago my neihbor who was 80 something use to bang on my wall cause I played my music a little too loud. Soon after that if I even turned it on quiet that ***** would bang on that wall with her cane or something. Well you mix alot of alcohol on a holoween with a bunch of teenagers with a pumkin this is what you get. We took all the pulp from inside the pumkin and wiped it all over her crystler. It dried like orange concrete in the morning.

To make this long story short. No it did not Fuc* up her paint. It just gave that old Battle axe a work out at the car wash.
