Firehawk clone

Firehawk clone
How sad (or disrespectful)would it be to create a 91-92 firehawk clone ? I'm talking visually from the outside only. I know the wheels would be very hard to find, if not impossible. I have an 89 formula so finding a front nose and rear bumper would be the main thing other than the wheels. What about adding emblems ? I've always thought it was sad when people slapped IROC emblems on a sport coupe without changing anything, "but" if you change to the correct appearance, is it still as bad ? At the very least, I'd like to change to the 91-92 nose bumper and lose the black bumpers on the red car, just looking for opinions.

I'd say nothing wrong with anything that doesn't have an emblem on it. Really just barrowing a good idea. the minute you put GTA on a v6, or TTA badges on ANYTHING but, that's wrong in my book. Even double for the Firehawk
I'd say go for it for anything but the emblems. there's not that much besides the nose and rims anyways. Just gotta make it look like a 91-92

Do what ever you want to your car. The only thing that I find wrong is when people lie to my face and say they have a certain car. For example: Years ago, this guy said that he had an SS. We all knew that he was dressing it to perp an SS. He missed minor details.

I feel you should have "respect" for the special vehicles and not create an imposter. i myself had to do a lot of searching to find a first year '96 auto WS6 in black, as well as a first year '87 GTA in black, all original and legitimate. Then someone else can go buy the rims/hood/badges and create one....i kinda don't agree with that. BUT.... like someone said earlier you can get yourself all the goodies and look just like one, just don't badge it as one. I myself could not run around with a car like that. although i would love an LS1 WS6 hood for my LT1 WS6, if the factory ones would fit!

I asked this question, except I had an IROC that got totaled in the rear end, and I said what if I take the body and frame of my RS and put everything on the IROC that makes it an IROC on the RS, and everyone said, it'd still be an RS. poo on them. I say do whatever ya want. Its your car.
I painted my taillights soild red, so I'd be the only Camaro around with them, everytime someone looks they think firebird, no wait thats a Camaro.... what year did they have those lights???

You could but, you would have to live with a clone .... or you could goto SLP in the classified and make a bid on a REAL Firehawk.
One word -------> DAMN!!!!!
But in the end it is up to you and you only, if are cool with it then go for it, just remember to say it is a clone and add that only 25 where built and that you like it.

thanks for the comments guys, it looks as if the 17X9.5" Ronal "firehawk" wheels are not produced so that would be a barrier. Maybe I'll just transform it into a 91-92 formula as I like the nose and rear bumper without the black bumper guard. Then pick up some ROH wheels. I have the slp 2000 firebird wheels (the 50.00 per rim ones) on it so it looks pretty good, but could be better . . . maybe some ROH snyper rims to get rid of the spacers and still have 17" rims.

I would keep my car exactly the way it is. I think the front bumper is way better.

eehhhh, I have to say I am against the clone. The way I see it, if you aint gonna do it right by either buying it, or making your a FireHawk, then dont do it. To me it just seems cheeeeeeeeeaaaaaap. I'd have a "McClarion" by now

What kind of got me going on this was muscle cars - I've kind of been looking for chevelle SS w/396, there are quite a few clones out there for such cars, I've come across many malibu's with 350 to 454 cloned to the SS. One of my buddy's cloned with cuda into a barracuda also. It is kind of popular with early camaros also. I'm going to go with the look with no badging most likely. I've been looking for the closest looking wheels but haven't found anything promising yet . . . I'm not even going to look for a T-ram either

I have a Firehawk clone...it has all the Firehawk pieces with the exception of the Dana 44 rear end and the ZF 6-speed...it even has the Firehawk roll cage. I have never touted it as an original Hawk (although many people think it is, including an employee at a local auto parts house who told me I didn't realize what I really had there ). Mine has no markings whatsoever on it. I see nothing wrong with builing a clone as long as you don't advertise it as being original. And as far as being cheap...an original hawk started at $40K and went as high as $50K with options. I have less than $23K in mine...
...I'll be cheap...

check the posts, the firehawk wheels ARE being produced again, there is a fresh thread by a guy name Gary@Ronal today, so good luck! Go for it, just dont advertise it as original.

what do you think about putting SS badges on a thirdgen camaro? it's not really imitating anything made in '82-92 and i think my car's built enough to be worthy of the badges

I am going to be putting on the WS6 Badge on the back of my car as soon as it's painted. Is that wrong?
As long as you don't try and pass it off as a real Hawk, then I don't see anything wrong with cloning one.

Wellll
This is my opinion...
I can understand the desire to make your car look
like one of those prestige models.. I would love
for my car to be a transam instead of a "Firebird" just
being able to say "Transam" seems so much cooler.
I almost bought the Transam tail lights one time cuz they
are cooler with the grid checkerboard appearance whatever..
but I decided..... NAH.. if It really means THAT much to
me and I can't just appreciate my car as it is for what it
is.. then maybe I need to sell it or trade it for the Transam..
Now I do Know that a firehawk is a little different story kinda
because you cant just go out and find one of those real easy.
but in the same essence... I really think you would have a hrd
time re-creating it into one and making it have EVERY thing it
had.. but I wouldnt cut it short either!!
if you were to recreate a firehawk., then I would only say it
is acceptable if you put the firehawk Mill in, and everything else that it contained..
the engine was a lot different too guys!.. I have pics of a firehawk
engine.. its not your normal "run of the mill 350" trust me
the intake alone looks like a huge rectangular mass of aluminum!!
it almost covers the whole engine.. its really something unique!
