finishing up car/painted wheels
Yeah I know, I forgot to do that yesterday...but I didn't forget today! And yeah, I wish I could have made it, but I'll be at the reception for sure!
Anyways, I got all the wheels painted, and they turned out very well! I'm impressed with the Dupli-Color's wheel paint, but the clear is a friggin joke! I forgot to take pictures of the one wheel with the clear coat. Not only did it yellow the wheel, but it was dull! The white paint itself had MUCH more gloss than the crappy clear coat did. So here's the pics I've taken over the last week:
Car sitting in Laura's garage (covered in bondo dust from the truck)
brake rotor without the 2" adapter
brake rotor WITH the 2" adapter
all of the SLP Firehawk wheels scuffed and ready for refinishing

You did a great job with the wheels and your car is one of my favs.
What kind of paint did you use?Did you clear the single stage?

Re: finishing up car/painted wheels
Thanks! I think they look pretty good. I used Dupli-Color wheel paint, and no, I didn't clear coat them. The clear they sell is absolute junk! It turns the wheel yellow and dulls the gloss of the single stage paint. I bought 3 cans of clear and used like a 1/4 of one, now I can't find the reciept to take the other 2 back, and at $6 a can, that sucks...

those look great! Don't think I would have used white myself, but excellent work for a tin can.

There was a couple of threads on here based on polishing that talked about a non yellowing clear coat. I couldn't find them but it might be worth searching for.

Re: finishing up car/painted wheels
Eh, it'll be okay. I take very good care of my car and wash it at least once a week. I'm definitely going to have to keep a bottle of detailer and a microfiber rag on me to wipe the brake dust off the wheels until I can afford to do a complete brake job with ceramic pads.
Once they are good and cured, I'll take a good polish to them and follow with a good high-quality wax for extra shine and protectant.

Re: finishing up car/painted wheels
I'm shooting for Tuesday, but I've got a lot of cleaning up to do. The entire car is covered in bondo dust (sharing my friend Laura's garage while they do body work on a truck), so tomorrow I'm going over there and cleaning up the interior, installing the PRO 5.0 shifter putting the rear springs back in, and putting on the rear wheel adapters. Then it should be ready to put the wheels on. Tuesday is when I made the appointment to get my wheels and tires mounted/balanced, so I'll drop the wheels off in the morning, pick them up after work, and run out to Laura's and put everything on...and hopefully I'll have no more transmission issues!

Re: finishing up car/painted wheels
see you decided to go with the white over the black..good choice i think..should look great when all is said and done..but aren't you worried they'll be scuffed when they're mounted?
