Front License plate mount?
I refuse to drill holes in my front bumper, and in NJ they are required by law to have a front license plate. Any suggestions or special brackets anyone has run into that won't destroy my bumper?

Thanks. Im really surprised they don't actually make something for these cars you don't have to fabricate or modify yourself..

Re: Front License plate mount?
honestly, the market is not there for a 3rd gen bird specific part, especially considering all the different bumper layouts. but you can make the one i posted fit and function perfectly in like 10 minutes.

Re: Front License plate mount?
Here in VA, we are required to have two plates. A PO, DRILLED INTO my aftermarket CAMARO logo grille to mount a cheapo plate holder.
After I registered the car with antique plates, I took that thing off and have been riding about 2 months without one.
The law of VA states that with antique registration, unless a vehicle was designed from the factory with only one license plate, it must display two plates.
IIRC, thirdgens from the FACTORY were only designed with a rear plate and it was a dealer modification dependent on state law whether or not a front plate holder was installed. There is NOWHERE on the front of our cars that was deliberately designed to house a license plate.
If I were to ever get pulled over, I would use this as my argument.

If mine didn't have a front bracket already i would just roll around without a front plate Or just put the dealer tag on the back then they wont even pull me over.

Or you can do what I do and not put it on your front end. Too much govt. in my business as it is (all of ours) and they can write me a hundred tickets, I still won't put that front plate on (even though I paid for it).

Re: Front License plate mount?
My rs grille has the spots for the plate holder. car looks way better w/o front plate. I will throw a plate in the front window when my new plates comes in. (front plate got lost or stolen)

Re: Front License plate mount?
I made mine with 2 aluminum flat bars bent to 90 degrees, then used existing 2 existing screws under the nose, to mount them. So no extra holes anywhere.
I started with a flat piece I had just laying around.
Cut it into 2 strips, bent it 90 degrees & drilled the holes. I used lock nuts to ensure they'd stay tight & have for 3 years now without ever coming loose one bit.
License plate on the brackets & button head bolts to get a clean look, not just plain exposed hex bolt heads.
The brackets are intentionally a bit wider than the mounting holes, to give the license plate a slight bend & "push" it forward, away from the nose.
And fully mounted on the car.
And no, it doesn't push back into the paint from the wind at speed on the highway. There are no marks in the paint, but if anyone was concerned, they could just pout some rubber "boots" on the bolt ends. Even just a tab of silicone would accomplish the same thing.

Re: Front License plate mount?
hey, if you want to get pulled over all the time and pay a hundred 54 dollar plate tickets be my guest. for the rest of us, its a simple matter of adding a simple bracket like this and being done with it.
