That pic was the background on my desktop for awhile. Is that legal?? I'm trying to decide between doing just all red, blackouts, both, or painting them black(I think that article said the paint comes in black. I don't wanna get a ticket and have to get all new taillights.

Im willing to bet its ILLEGAL. Because your reverse "white" lights are gone. Fab a clear bezel on your 3rd brake light to make Mr. police happy.

BTW why use model paint which is thin and not meant for "the environment" when Plasti-Kote has candy apple red for automotive use. Check you PepBoys or whatever the east coasters have.

Hey guys,

Go look at any 4-door Honda Accord from 1998-2001. If you look at the taillights, they look like the whole thing is red. Then, if you look closer, you'll see that the reverse light and turn signal part is just tinted red very slightly...it actually looks kind of pink.

I'd imagine that if Honda can do it at the factory, it must be street legal. And how often does a policeman see your backup lights?

I think that if you do it right, so that it's shiny....if it LOOKS factory, the cops won't bother you too much.

Also, in place of your stock backup lights, you could maybe mount a set of really small fog lights, high up under the back bumper where they won't be seen, but so that they'll throw light on the ground when they're on.
