Re: Tinted Rear Tail-lights who's done it?
@Matt, I checked my local Oreillys that sells Spray paint, Well not local its about 45 mins from here since they dont sell spray paint near here. Well they did not have any in stock but if they dont consider doing what I did. I ordered mine from Amazon with the clearcoat bundle. Here it is mine was around $27 with shipping but def check your local stores if they have them.
Also I don't think I posted mine, here is a pic of them on my project Camaro. Its an old picture I might be done in a week and its gonna be outside for wetsanding so I will get a better picture then.

[QUOTE=Projekt IROC;4571895]I just cant stand the grid when theyre tinted, cover>tint.
I agree 100%. The grid style just doesn't look right when its tinted IMO. I have the other style and i think it looks better tinted

I thought about having mine done on the gta but they don't really need it plus I like the grid light pattern. I had em done on my other ride (obviously not an f-body) but they do look hot when done right.

Re: Tinted Rear Tail-lights who's done it?
End results after my first time trying this.. I really like the stuff, but it can be somewhat finnicky at times. I'm satisfied though. It's definitely not show quality by any means, but I could use the practice. I think they're fine for my application. Can only get better from here, though
Oh, and I applied mine differently from others.. I tend to be impatient when it comes to this kind of this, so consider this the "rushed" approach.

We have a guy here in the Dallas metroplex that does that for you. I think they also sell kits. I cant remember his name or the company. As soon as I foind out I will post it. All it takes is a heat gun or even a hair drier. And they come in different tint darknesses.

Re: Tinted Rear Tail-lights who's done it?
I couldnt remember the company name but I got it if you are all interested.
The name of the company is Big Worm Motorsports.
Here is his web site. http://www.bigwormmotorsports.com/
He is a sponsor for NTTGA and he showed us the tint for all of the car lighting rear, side marker and the like. you can email him for info.
I cant promise but you can tell him NTTGA sent you and you may get a deal.

Re: Tinted Rear Tail-lights who's done it?
It is not window tint. It is tint made for rear lights as well as side marker lights. They come in different darkness shades. All it takes to put them on is a heat gun or even a hair dryer. It forms to the shape of the light and doesnt scratch easy. He put it on a guys car at or local club meeting, on all the marker lights as well as the tail lights, and it only took 15-20 minutes to do all of it.

I think so also. I like the Grid lights, but I think they look "fat" on the backend for some reason. I think it's just a trick on your eyes though because of how different the two lights look between eachother.

Re: Tinted Rear Tail-lights who's done it?
Bump for pictures (this time with grids for comparison). I'll be posting pics of a set of junkyard tails I got today. Round 2 of tinting.. this time I decided to be more conservative with the tinting, and allow alot more light to show through.

Re: Tinted Rear Tail-lights who's done it?
Here we are:
Stock comparison:
Modified:
Both:
I picked these up from the junkyard yesterday and they were ROUGH. I do have to say they cleaned up quite nicely, though. I decided to go lighter on these ones. I think grids look great when given a fair amount of tint, but blacking them out throws the "scheme" off a bit to me. They look great both ways I suppose, maybe it just depends on the application (as well as who's looking at them).
Enjoy.

Re: Tinted Rear Tail-lights who's done it?
they look ok to me but you need to clear them.....but i like them done a more professional way ( meaning with a gun and car clear).......cause i did my 3rd brake light on my 4th gen and did clear them too....but they will fade over time. The way my tail lights were done on my 3rd gen will never fade.

BUMP!!!
Here's mine done with window tint. And did the third brake light as well. At night with the brakes applied you can still clearly read IROC-Z in the third brake light

Re: Tinted Rear Tail-lights who's done it?
Wishmaster awesome... looks like the folks getting them done at shops are getting the superior product hands down. I have stayed away from night shades as I have not seen a good glossy version, which is what I would want.
I instead have used the "cling style" on a few other cars though and had good results... They look like they have been painted. Best of all a cop comes up and you can say oops sorry I forgot to take them off after the show and peel them away... LOL! So this might be an option for some. I think it would work best on birds and the non grid camaro lights!
I don't have the bird done, but here are examples I did on my girl's Stang, daughter's Civic and my fiero. Mods I hope it is OK!
Stang... bought on ebay... described as dark smoke
Nice gloss, unlike most, not all, niteshades paint jobs
Civic... I cut myself from 5% window cling. I may go with 20% at a later date, but I have ridden behind the car and brakes can be seen fine, even in the day
Tailights with headlights on... you can see the brakes even in the day.
Fiero... in process... I did the tails and refectors
Completed

Going to have to call you out on this. How did you manage this with the tails being rippled? Any tips/hints/tricks would be truly appreciated. My tails are starting to look dull and I'm looking for that gloss tinted shine back.
Looks good. Can you still see the red through it in the day?
