Best degreaser?

My car is mechanically in great shape (76K miles). I was thinking of pulling the engine and trans to clean the whole underside/suspension/steering componets of the car. I think though i may wait to do that later on.

So whats best degreaser on the underside of the car? i dont want something that will be harmful to the bushings, ball joints etc.

Simple green?

Yep! Simple Green is what you should use, it's the best for that type of job!

Re: Best degreaser?

3M makes a really heavy duty degreaser that will take it right off as well

Is it so heavy duty that it will eat away at the rubber busings and such?

Re: Best degreaser?

Is it really worth pulling the engine and tranny just to clean the underside of the car?

No, its not worth it to just clean it. If i pulled it i would re-seal the whole engine, have some head work done, i need to replace the valve seals and some other things.

No it won't eat rubber or paint. It isn't even aerosol, but it works so much better than any other degreaser I have used. I originally bought it for the kitchen but it made it to the garage when I tore my TL1000R down and it made a believer out of me. PM me maybe I will be able to hook you up

"Gunk Off" works really well but you can buy Simple Green by the gallons.
