Did My Amber Delete. Opinions?
I'm getting ready to install Stephen's STS in a couple days so I finally got around to doing the amber delete on my taillights.
Only other pictures I've seen of anyone doing this was the guy on here who had the white RS. I actually took the assembly apart for the job and did not opt to spray through the holes. The passengers side taillight was a real mess! A fair amount of dried out plastic resulted in me reaching for the ultimate toolbox stuffer in ghetto engineering: krazy glue.
I actually did not plan on keeping these taillights since they're a bit scratched up, so I just rushed right in with the intention of this being a temp solution/hack job. But after all the work was done my jaw hit the floor with the results. So I think I'll keep them and use some wetsanding to give the outside a new shiny surface.
I removed the outer lens section, and since I do not have access to the Father's workshop at these hours, had to do what I had to do. No masking tape was available, so I used two sheets off of a lint roller to mask off the reverse/brake lights. For paint I used, SURPRISE! Krylon anodized red X-Metals paint. This stuff is supposed to be intended to give an anodized look to metal, but also made for a perfect translucent red and a better match to the red brake lens than anything I've ever seen used before. Again, this was intended as a rush job. So I laid it on thick. But after it started drying I noticed how good it turned out. I was really impressed with myself.
I only painted the inside of the lenses and left the outside alone as I think this greatly throws off appearance.

Re: Did My Amber Delete. Opinions?
Looks better than I thought it would. Every amber-to-red conversion I've seen were painted on the outside, covering the amber.
I half expected to just see a darker amber. Looks good!

I too am also doing the STS kit on my camaro. How are you going to wire up the 3rd sequential light? I plan on installing another 194 bulb in the side marker housing so one is running light while the other is the 3rd bulb in the sequence.

Re: Did My Amber Delete. Opinions?
I think the 3 lights its to slim, compared to the T/A. I asked if it can go
4 3 2 1 instead of 3 2 1. Think it would look better to red out the white/amber spots and give it a wider sequencing look.
Id rig up my license plate lights to be the reverse lights, that way it would still be legal.

Re: Did My Amber Delete. Opinions?
I was actually thinking about widening the sequence last night while I was doing the amber conversion. What would need to be done is change the reverse lights to red, then in the blank black area between the reverse lights and license plate transplant a set of white reverse lenses from a donor set of tailights.
I'm good with fabrication and am positive I could make it work with nothing more than clear epoxy and a Dremel tool.
Problem is right now money is tight. So if anyone had a spare set of tails laying around if be more than happy to pay for the shipping.

Re: Did My Amber Delete. Opinions?
Stephen,
Is there any trick or modification that can be done with the STS to make it control 4 bulbs in sequence?

Re: Did My Amber Delete. Opinions?
How is this possible?
Sounds like it can only control them at the same time rather than individually.

Re: Did My Amber Delete. Opinions?
Sorry f I wasn't clear.....
Only 3 light sequences, so the first 2 will light together. The 2 'A' bulbs will light together, then B, then C.

Re: Did My Amber Delete. Opinions?
That's what I figured. Only solution would be to wire a delay circuit in line between the STS and one of the A bulbs, but too much of a PITA. I'll just hook the 3 middle light up, and leave the outter tails normal.
I still need a set of donor lights.
I really like the early 80's style taillights better I think they look more oldschool compared to the grid pattern. Does anyone know if these would properly bolt up to a car that had grid tails?

I decided to revive this thread...... ![Big Grin](https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I rarely need to back up at night & even when I do, I'm always in a well lit area, where my Reverse lights don't do me much good so last year, I turned my clear Reverse lights to red tail lights......
I went from
