Polishing the TPI Plenum

I've gotten the plenum polished and now am looking at the cover plate for the distributor. I've seen pics of these things the same level "mirror finish" as the plenum, but the cover plate looks plastic. How would I go about polishing it? Has anyone ever painted it?

Thanx,
Jon

Goto a dealership and ask for the rear plate off a l98 corvette... it'll be alum so you can polish it like the rest of the plenum

The corvette plenum extension number is 10108425 and the 3 screws for it is part number 14082425.

Also... make sure you get the screws, they are different than the originals that hold the plastic plate.

What the hell is with the screws? I never bought screws, but mine's on there just fine! Maybe I inadvertantly used different screws without realizing it?

Thanks! Does anyone know how much it is? This is alot better than trying chrome paint on that plastic pos.

Jim,

I never really paid attention to whatzuuup with the screws. Obviously they are the same threads. I was thinking there must be a different shoulder on the head for the alum vs. plastic.

When I went to get mine the Vette catalog mentioned this as well as there being two different part numbers. Although I never compared I've always just passed this info along. Don't know if it's BS or not.

At www.gmpartsdirect.com , the prices are:

10108425 - Plenum Extension - 12.06
14082425 - Bolt - $2.00 (Each I think)

Making for a grand total of 18.06 + S&H

That sounds too cheap for the plenum extension. I paid about $15 and I get stuff at dealer cost. Maybe that's the plastic one for $12?

Jim, I paid about $18 for mine at my local Chevy dealer, no hook-ups or deals.

Yep.... last years retail from GM was bout' $19.50. Street prices less.... but 12 bucks is REAL cheap. Double check.
